Ischia Film Festival is the heart of the project “Cinema & Territory’’ created by Michelangelo Messina for the no-profit organization Association Art Movie & Music, whose purpose is to spread among a vast audience unedited audio-visual works that highlight the cultural identity of a place through the movie screening and locations.
Every year the festival presents a selection of films from all over the world: all of them emphasize the cultural identity or the landscape's features of a certain territory through the audiovisual narration. A jury of personages of the film industry awards the best films among the ones selected for the official competition.
During the Festival week, in addition to the competition's film screenings, there is a special section about "denied location" and there also are omages to important figures of the international film industry. The Festival is an important part of a wider project called "Cinema and territory" that aims at protecting cultural and landscape peculiarities of territories in order to promote them through the audiovisual medium.

-“Ischia Film” Award to the documentary and short film that have most enhanced the locations.
-“Ischia Film” Award to the feature film that has most enhanced the locations.
-“Castello Aragonese” award to the best director
-“Aenaria” award to the best set designer
-“Epomeo” award to the best photography director

In the Ischia Film Festival competition, documentaries and short films which have given particular importance to culture, traditions, to the environment and history of the locations.
The works can be both unpublished and published, but necessarily presented to the audience after 1st January 2014.
The short films in competition must have a length of maximum 30 minutes.
The works selection is done according to the unquestionable judgment of the Festival Management and the selection Committee.
There will not be any remuneration for the screening of the works included in the Festival official selection. All the delivery charges (including possible transportation charges from the airport and all customs operations for material coming from outside the EU) or films rental are at the participant’s expense (return), unless otherwise agreed with the Festival Management.
Due to the historical and architectonic peculiarity of the location that hosts the festival, it is not possible to show the selected works on 35-mm film or DCP. For this reason, Blu-ray Discs or DVDs with no inscriptions or halftone screening will be required. In case we do not receive the copies for screening, the DVDs sent for the selection will be used.
Foreign films must be subtitled in Italian or English by the participants. This can be done also after the selection according to the audience of the screening.
The Festival Management will take care of the publication of a general catalogue of the presented works.
The Festival does not award cash prizes. The Festival Management will appoint a jury of experts who are entrusted with allocating the following prizes: “Ischia Film” Award to the documentary and short film that have most enhanced the locations.
The present regulation is drawn up both in Italian and English; in case of problems arising from the interpretation of the same, the Italian version will be applied.
In case of any dispute, the competent authority is the Court of Ischia or Naples.
