Held annually at Universitat Politècnica de València and different locations in the beautiful city of Valencia (Spain), the annual Screendance Meeting is a conference that includes academic papers, artist presentations and screenings. Its goals include enhancing the academic study of video-dance, fostering artistic creation of video-dance by creating a meeting point for the different creative participants, and disseminate the knowledge and appreciation of video-dance among the students and general public.
For the 4th Meeting (2017) we introduce these features:
• The field of study is open to video-dance, video-performance and video-art that uses corporal expression or choreographic techniques.
• An important focus will be given to the presentation of video-dance works by their authors, where selected participants will show and present their works and discuss them with the audience.
The IV International Meeting on VIdeo-Dance and Video-Performance (21-22 of September 2017),is happy to make a call for works of local and international artists, with the aims of increasing the recognition and study of these genres and of fostering the coming together of the authors and the audience. The rules are as follows:
- participation in the meeting requires the attendance. If the submitted work is selected, the author (or some of the participants in the creation of the work) will attend the meeting in person in order to present the work and discuss it with the audience. Each participant will be allowed about 45 minutes to show and present their work.
- the works can be from any year, and we even encourage the submission of early works if they represent an important step in the author’s creative path works will have a maximum duration of 15 minutes. Longer works are admissible but the author will present excerpts during the meeting.
- the selection process will take in account both the artistic value of the work and the interest of the topics that will be discussed as described in the abstract of the presentation. The presentation can focus on a specific point of the video-dance work, like an aesthetic or technical option.
- submission and participation in the meeting is free.
This is the calendar:
- May 15. Deadline for submitting the works and abstracts.
- June 1. Decision on the accepted works
- July 1 (Optional) Submission of full articles about the presented topic, if the author wishes to write a full article. The Proceedings of the Meeting will include the full articles plus a Catalogue of the submitted works and will be published as a book with ISBN and as electronic publications with DOI and ISBN.
- July 15 (Optional) Corrections and modifications on the full articles
- September 21-22. Presentation by the authors of the selected works during the Meeting (Valencia, Spain)
The oral presentations will be made in English or Spanish, which are the two languages of the meeting.
