This festival is not currently open for submissions.

Festival start: 22 October 2014      Festival end: 22 October 2014

Think you have what it takes to make a truly terrifying short film? Submit today and help make this one hell of a scary night in Denver, CO at "The Coolest Room in Town": Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret!

Audience Selection Award:
Cash Prize/the "Malicious Michael" award/framed poster of the event

Hello, and thank you for taking an interest in submitting your short film to our festival! Acceptance into our festival means that you are automatically entered into our Audience Selection Contest with the chance to win a cash prize, the "Malicious Michael" award, and have your video posted on the KBK STUDIOS website in its own premiere location. In addition, films that are selected by our committee will be assembled into a DVD by KBK STUDIOS and presented to the Directors the night of the event. Directors who are able to attend the event will be provided with free admission and a brief moment (1-1.5 minutes) to speak about their film before it is screened.

You are responsible for your own travel fare should you choose to attend the event. KBK STUDIOS will not provide a travel stipend, room and board, or provide financial assistance for Directors/Director's entourage should you be travelling from out of town.

For more information regarding the venue, please visit www.lannies.com

Note: Directors who are accepted and cannot attend the event will submit a short 1-1.5 minute video talking about their film which will be aired before their film during the festival.

Unfortunately, it's not as easy as point and click. There are a few rules that need to be followed.

1) SUBMISSIONS MUST BE 3 MINUTES OR LESS.

We know that this may seem like a harsh rule, but there is some incredible work presenting itself in short films at the present time. It's a challenge to see if you are able to tell a complete story in a very short amount of time. We bet you'll have a lot of fun with it!

2) ALL DIRECTORS MUST BE 18 OR OVER.

Again, it may seem harsh, but we don't want to censor the work you are creating. We don't believe in censorship, so we feel that you should be of legal age (U.S.) in order to submit a film. Think of creating a film that has a minimum of a PG-13 rating.

3) FILMS MUST FALL INTO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING HORROR SUB-GENRES:

A) Supernatural Horror - Ghosts, ghouls, goblins, oh my!

B) Slasher/Serial Killer Horror - Who doesn't love a good slice and dice?

C) Psychological Horror - "And I ate his liver with a side of fava beans and a spicy Chianti."

D) Horror/Comedy - The Wayans brothers don't have s*** on this film...

4) ALL MATERIAL(S) USED IN YOUR FILM MUST BE THE SOLE PROPERTY OF THE CREATOR OF THE FILM.

Remember all those lectures about plagairism in school? Yeah. Those rules still apply here. Make sure you own the rights to everything used in your film.

5) SCENES OF EXPLICIT CHILD OR ANIMAL TORTURE/ABUSE ARE GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.

We do not condone harmful acts being performed on children or to animals. Period.

6) NUDITY OF ANY EXPLICIT OR EXPLOITATIONAL MANNER ARE GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.

Though we are not banning nudity from your works, keep it tasteful.

7) PAYMENT (IN FULL) MUST BE RECEIVED IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS FESTIVAL.

Your entry fee ($20) is funding this event. Without it, there is no guarantee that we will be able to pay the fees associated with putting on an event of this nature. Please help us to help you in this matter. ALL PAYMENTS COVER THE COST OF ONE SUBMISSION ONLY. Though there is no limit to how many films you can submit, keep in mind that you will be paying for each of them. When submitting your payment please put the following information in the subject line: (Director's Name) (Film Title): KBK STUDIOS FRIGHT FLIX FEST. This will help us keep track of who has submitted their payment and which film they are submitting. Thank you!

8) FILMS MUST BE SUBMITTED VIA YOUTUBE LINK.

This does not mean that they have to be public. If you do not want your film viewed by anyone but KBK STUDIOS, please send us a private link so that we are the only ones who can view your masterpiece. We promise not to share it with anyone but the Film Selection Committee.

Overall, we want you to be creative. There are so many avenues to pursue in order to frighten your audience. Show us your best and we look forward to watching your submission! Just a reminder: THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS AUGUST 22, 2014. You will know whether or not you have been accepted no later than September 15, 2014.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
