INTRODUCTION
Kinemagik International Children’s Film Festival is an annual festival that strives to bring the most imaginative and delightful international & national children’s cinema to young audiences in Kolkata.
Children today watch and consume more audio-visual content than ever before. However, in the multitude of content that is created year on year, children very often cannot access films that are specifically made for them.
Kinemagik Film Festival is a platform that curates and distributes children's films made by filmmakers from across the globe and across time. It brings the magic of cinema to children and young audiences.
The festival in it's first edition is non-competitive and will present features, shorts, live action and animation films over two days of festivity.
OBJECTIVES
· To promote and distribute children's cinema and other audio-visual content that is created exclusively for children.
· To curate high quality, entertaining, multi-cultural cinema for children who otherwise don’t have access to such content.
· To cultivate understanding of human societies, cultures & experiences through cinema.
· To encourage children’s content that inspire humane values, provoke imagination and are educational in nature.
· To create space for critical appreciation and pursuit of cinematic art among children and youth.
· To support the works of talented and dedicated children’s film-makers and encourage the exchange of ideas and lived experiences of filmmaking among them.
ORGANISER
KINEMAGIK INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL is organized by ABOA HASA Foundation – a non-profit company registered under Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. India. committed to working with children, women and marginalised communities with the aim of nurturing through education and cultural exchange. Since its inception in 2019, Aboa Hasa has organised vocational training programs for women, educational workshops for children and advocacy campaigns for eco-sustainable menstruation.
Kinemagik Film Festival is an initiative by Aboa Hasa to promote the culture of cinema among children and youth.
All the selected participants will receive a certificate of participation and laurel of official selection.
1.ELIGIBILITY:
The submissions that meet the following criteria will be considered eligible for inclusion in the Festival
program:
. Open to filmmakers from all over the world.
. Films of all genres and languages are eligible and must have English subtitles.
. The submitted film is a children's film concerned with childhood related themes.
. The submitted film must be suitable for children and family audiences.
. The submitted film has been produced between 31st August 2019 to 1st November 2026.
2.FILM SUBMISSION FORMAT:
. An online downloadable film screener must be provided with each film entry.
. The minimum acceptable screener resolution is 1080p Full HD video.
. Film screener flie should be in .mp4 or .mov file format.
. English subtitles are mandatory for all film submission categories except films with no dialogue.
3. SUBMISSION SECTIONS FEE & DEADLINES:
. Early Bird Deadline: 20th September
. Standard Deadline: 30th September
. Late Deadline: 31st October
. Extended Deadline: 1st November
4. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
. All Films must be submitted through Festhome.
. Each film entry should include a synopsis, a short biography of the director, film trailer, film stills and posters.
. Screening links must remain active till the end of the festival date i.e. 15th November
2026.
4. SELECTION PROCESS:
All screeners will be watched and judged by the KINEMAGIK Festival’s Selection Committee. The KINEMAGIK film Selection Committee is made up of film specialists, educators, and a panel of young people, who will decide which films will participate in the festival. The festival management may invite films for curated programming. Successful submissions will be informed by 5th of November 2026 and a list of selected films will also be published in festival's social media handles. If you have not received any communication from the festival by this date then please assume that your film has not been selected for participation in the festival. The selection committee’s decision is final and binding, and no correspondence and requests for review will be entertained.
NOTE: Any film that violates the submission rules, or is found unsuitable for children during the committee's preliminary review, will be irrevocably disqualified.
5. EXIBITION FORMAT:
. Participants/submitters of officially selected films must provide a high-resolution 2k or 4k Master copy in .MP4, .MOV or Unencrypted DCP format for festival projection.
. All selected participants must provide digital projection files and transfer them digitally to the festival organisers through Vimeo, Drop Box, Google Drive, We Transfer or via similar services.
. Physical projection copy/print will not be accepted due to logistical and transportation barriers.
6. TERMS & CONDITIONS:
. The festival may amend rules at any time without prior notice and same shall be notified through festival's social media handles and website, we request all participants to follow KINEMAGICK's social media handles for updates.
. Submission fees are non-refundable, submitted films cannot be withdrawn until the festival is over.
. All films must be original works and must not violate copyright laws in any country. The submitter, by submitting the film, confirms under substantive and criminal liability that they are the holder of the copyright and that they have the legal right to dispose of the film and related rights, or that they have the appropriate author/co-author authorization to transfer the relevant rights for the needs and in accordance with the requirements of the KINEMAGIK International Children's Film Festival.
. The copyright owner of a selected film for the Festival agrees to its screening at the Festival free of charge.
. The copyright owner of a selected film for the Festival gives permission to allow use of up to three minutes of material from their film for the media promotion of the Festival.
. After the selection process has been completed, films cannot be withdrawn from the Festival. The official selection will be notified and all the information will be made public on the Festival’s web page and social media handles by 5th November 2026.
. By submitting a film to the KINEMAGIK Festival, the submitter gives explicit and irrevocable consent for a copy of the film to remain in the archive of the KINEMAGIK Film Festival, i.e., the ABOA HASA FOUNDATION in
KOLKATA. The applicant hereby gives consent for the submitted film to be shown outside the Festival at any time,
exclusively as part of educational and non-commercial screenings. Any other use of the film after the Festival will
be subject to a subsequent agreement with the copyright holder.
. The submitter agrees to indemnify the festival against any claims related to copyright, trademark, publicity or credits. In case of any legal dispute regarding the use of copyrights, the organizer and the owners of copyrights both agree that the dispute should be solved amicably as soon as possible, and should it not be the case, in the relationship between the organizer and owners of copyrights with international element, the organizer and the owners of copyrights are hereby entering into contract under the Law of Republic of INDIA, as well as jurisdiction of Courts in the Republic of INDIA;
. By submitting to the Festival, the submitter agrees to be bound by all provisions of the Festival Regulations.

Eligibility
• Filmmakers from any part of the world except India are eligible to submit in this section.
• Live Action and Animated features films produced in any part of the World are eligible.
• The minimum duration is 60 minutes to be considered as feature film.
• Feature films produced after 1st August 2019 are eligible for submission.

• The Director must be an Indian citizen and at least one of the producers must be an Indian citizen.
• The minimum duration is 60 minutes to be considered as feature film.
• Feature films produced after 1st August 2019 are eligible for submission.

LITTLE VISIONARIES section is to encourage children & young people to experiment with the language of moving images, and stimulate the pursuit of film-making as an artform as well as a creative expression of their visions and point of views.
Eligibility
• Age restruction: Films must be made by an individual child/groups of children below the age of 16. The core team (Director, Cameraperson, editor, etc.) should be below the age of 17 when the film was made.
• Filmmakers from any part of the world including Indian citizens are eligible to submit.
• Films must be produced after 1st August 2019.
Entry is free for Little Visionaries section.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
