The Girona Independent Film Festival is a platform for directors and authors of independent fiction feature films without a distributor. The festival aims to promote these productions by providing an opportunity for their exhibition and commercial distribution.

Best Film Award

The winning film will receive:

- Commercial screening: Exhibition in theaters of the Promio network, specialized in independent cinema.

- Guaranteed distribution: Through a specialized company, ensuring its commercial release in Spain within a maximum period of 12 months.

GIRONA INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL RULES

1. FESTIVAL OBJECTIVE

The Girona Independent Film Festival is a platform for directors and authors of independent fiction feature films without a distributor. The festival aims to promote these productions by providing an opportunity for their exhibition and commercial distribution.

2. DATES AND LOCATION

Festival dates: June 12 to June 15
Location: Girona, Catalonia

Screenings and activities: Held at the Truffaut Cinema in Girona

3. PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

3.1 General requirements

Independent fiction feature films without a distribution contract in Spain may participate.

Films must have a minimum duration of 70 minutes.

National and international productions are allowed.

Narrative originality and cinematic quality will be especially valued.

3.2 language and subtitles

Films must be presented in their original version.

If the language is not Catalan or Spanish, they must include subtitles in one of these two languages.

3.3 Registration process

Registrations will be made through the festival’s website or Festhome.

The registration deadline is April 31.

Participants must attach a complete technical sheet of the film.

4. SELECTION PROCESS

Feature films will be evaluated by a selection committee composed of festival organizers and distribution sector professionals.

Four finalist feature films will be selected for the official competition.

5. Awards

5.1 Best Film Award

The winning film will receive:

- Commercial screening: Exhibition in theaters of the Promio network, specialized in independent cinema.

- Guaranteed distribution: Through a specialized company, ensuring its commercial release in Spain within a maximum period of 12 months.

6. JURY

The jury will be composed of four film industry professionals:

- An independent film distributor.
- A recognized director.
- A member of the festival organization.
- A film critic.

The jury's decision will be final.

7. FESTIVAL PROGRAM

- Thursday, June 12: Pre-premiere of a film from the Adicine network.

- Friday, June 13: Screening of two competing feature films.

- Saturday, June 14: Screening of the remaining two competing feature films and a masterclass by a guest author.

- Sunday, June 15: Special screening of a renowned author, closing ceremony, and awards presentation.

8. GENERAL CONDITIONS

Registration for the festival implies acceptance of these rules.

The organization may use excerpts from the selected films for festival promotion.

Participants guarantee ownership of the exhibition rights of the submitted works.
