Welcome to the 3rd Edition of Ladies in Control

Ladies in Control is a short film festival dedicated to showcasing works directed by women. Its mission is to promote women’s authorship in cinema and highlight the essential impact of the female perspective within the audiovisual arts.

This year’s program will feature a curated selection of short films directed by women, alongside a panel discussion bringing together leading women from the creative industry.

The festival will also present the premiere of Cultura Groovy’s first original short film, written, directed, and produced by women, marking a key milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting female-driven cinema.

Ladies in Control fosters visibility, dialogue, and opportunity for women in film, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable cinematic ecosystem.

ELIGIBILITY
Films must be directed or co-directed by women.
Only short films with a running time of 20 minutes or less (≤ 20 min) will be accepted.

DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS
By submitting your film, you confirm that you hold the necessary rights for its distribution and exhibition.

LOCAL PARTICIPATION
Filmmakers residing in Barcelona, Spain will be invited to attend the festival as guests to present their films and participate in a post-screening Q&A session.

Selected filmmakers may invite a limited number of guests to attend the screening.

SELECTED FILMS
If your film is selected, you will be asked to provide the following materials:

Screener in .MOV format (MP4 not accepted)
High-resolution stills
Trailer (.MP4 or .MOV format)

Press kit including:
Official poster
Synopsis (100–250 words)
Logline
Director’s biography
Director’s headshot

SUBTITLING REQUIREMENTS
English-language films must include Spanish subtitles.
Spanish-language films must include English subtitles.
Catalan-language films must include both English and Spanish subtitles.
Films in other languages must include English and Spanish subtitles.

PROMOTIONAL RIGHTS AND ARCHIVAL RIGHTS
By participating, the rights holder authorizes the festival to reproduce stills and short excerpts (up to 3 minutes) for use in festival publications, press, and television broadcasts for promotional purposes.

The festival may retain a digital copy of the film for archival and non-commercial purposes.

ACCEPTANCE OF REGULATIONS
Participation in Ladies in Control implies full acceptance of the above regulations.
