Madeira Fantastic FilmFest. An international film festival and the first regional event dedicated to showing and promoting high-quality films in the fantastic, horror and thriller genres. It is the festival that gives filmmakers from all over the world the opportunity to present their films to the Madeiran public.
The festival places special emphasis on showing films by Madeiran filmmakers, with the aim of supporting and promoting the production of films made on the island.
It takes place in Funchal, the capital of Madeira Island in Portugal.

You have a film and you are of age. No matter where you come from. The Festival is open to filmmakers from all over the world.
You can submit as many films as you wish.
It is not a problem if the films have been previously screened, shown on the Internet or in other festivals.
The films may be in Portuguese, or in any other language with Portuguese subtitles. For the SELECTION process are not necessary Portuguese subtitles but if your film is selected we will ask you Portuguese subtitles for the public screening.
The organization can use pieces from the selected films (10% maximum) to promote them and the festival.
Selected films of Madeira Fantastic FilmFest 2026 will be screened in Funchal, Madeira Island.

Running time:
The short films may not run over 25 minutes.
The feature films longer than 25 minutes.
Format:
All of the submitted films can participate, no matter the format. The screening will be from a 1080p digital file (participants will be informed about the format needed for the screening with time enough).
The organization reserves the right to accept a film, if it is not sent within the registration period together with all the necessary documents.
Once the films have been received, and until the deadline, the organization will select those taking part in the competition and will inform the selected participants.
Registration implies acceptance of all the regulations. All fees are non-refundable.
The Festival reserves the right to make any necessary changes in regulations or scheduling. Any other issue which is not included here will be sorted by the MFFF2026 organization.
