Submissions are now open for the Movie&Short Festival 2027, an international festival bringing together independent cinema, visual arts, technology, and new forms of artistic expression.

The call for entries covers two competition sections: the Movie&Short Competition 2027, dedicated to short films, and Art for the Future 2027, focused on visual arts. Both competitions are free to enter.

To enter either competition, filmmakers and artists must complete the online application form and provide their personal details, biography, synopsis, and supporting documentation for the submitted work. Applicants must also declare that they hold the relevant rights and that their work is original, including any music, text, and images used.

Audience voting will take place on the Dailybloid platform. The full regulations, deadlines, and application forms are available on the official Movie&Short Festival website.

DEADLINES AND CALENDAR



• Deadline for submitting your artwork: 25 March 2027.



• Online voting period: 5 April – 5 May 2027.



• Announcement of the winners: May 2027.



Participants must submit their works no later than 5 April 2027.





THE COMPETITION



Movie&Short announces the Movie&Short 2027 short film competition. The theme is open. The competition awards the Prize for the best short film. The winner will be chosen by the public through an online vote. A technical and professional jury, whose decision is final, will award the following technical prizes: BEST DIRECTOR AWARD; BEST SCREENPLAY AWARD; BEST ACTRESS AND ACTOR AWARD; BEST SHORT FILM AWARD.

The Mara Da Costa Reis Award will also be presented, dedicated to the memory of the talented director: the award is intended to honour her artistic sensitivity, her authorial vision and her deep love for independent cinema and audiovisual research.

• Registration procedure: to ensure maximum security and legal compliance, participants must complete and sign the competition entry form and upload the required materials.



• Entry fee: free.





INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY



The work must be original. The participant declares and warrants that they hold all the necessary rights relating to the work, including music, text and image rights. The participant undertakes to indemnify and hold the Organisation harmless from any third-party claims, including any allegations of plagiarism. The Organisation accepts no liability in the event of false declarations.



ONLINE PUBLIC VOTE



Online voting will take place from 5 April to 5 May 2027 through the dedicated section of the magazine www.dailybloid.com/movie-short-festival.



Each user may express their preferences in accordance with the technical procedures established by the platform. Any attempt to manipulate the voting system or alter the results (e.g. through bots or automated votes) will result in the immediate exclusion of the work from the competition.



The work receiving the highest number of online votes will receive the Audience Award and will be screened during the closing night of the Movie&Short Festival 2027, where the awards ceremony will take place.



TECHNICAL JURY EVALUATION



During the final evening of the Movie&Short Festival 2027, to be held in May 2027, a qualified Technical Jury will present the prizes listed in the Competition section. The decision of the Technical Jury is final and not subject to appeal.



ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNERS



The names of the winners (of both the Audience Award and the Technical Jury prizes) will be officially announced on the festival website and social media channels at the end of the vote and during the live Movie&Short Festival 2027 event.

OWNERSHIP AND COPYRIGHT



Warranty of originality and ownership: the participant declares and warrants that they are the sole author of the work, or that they lawfully and fully hold all economic and moral exploitation rights relating to the work, and fully indemnifies the Organisation against any claim, legal action or request for compensation brought by third parties.



The entrant declares that they hold all the necessary authorisations from co-authors, publishers or rights holders to take part in the competition and to grant the distribution and promotion rights provided for by the competition.



The entrant further declares that they have disclosed all relevant information regarding collecting societies, publishers or other rights holders who may claim rights over the work.



Disclaimer of liability: the Organisation of the Movie&Short “Art for the Future” is entirely unconnected with any contractual, financial or legal dispute between the participant and third parties, publishers, labels or other rights holders. Any false declaration may result in the immediate disqualification of the work from the competition.



By entering, the participant grants Movie&Short the non-exclusive, royalty-free and non-commercial right to screen, publish and distribute the short film for the promotional purposes of the Festival, including screening during the 2027 final event and publication on the official channels.
