NIFFFI '21 will offer an international selection of films that showcases our collective, often shared, ways of life. We are a platform for filmmakers who want to tell tales that connect our past to our time. Entries will compete for the flagship NIFFFI Black Fire Award for Best Long Film (30 mins and up) and a new Award for Best Short Film (under 30 mins).

Awards

All films will compete in two categories: Short format films (under 30 mins) and Long format films (30 mins or longer).

Best film in each category will be awarded.
Jury panel will be announced along with the Festival selection on October 1st.

Entry

All films related to the themes of folklore or river are eligible for the Festival, subject to the conditions below.

A submission can be in any language, and of any duration and category (fiction/non-fiction). All non-English films must have English subtitles.

Films can be produced by individuals or teams.

There is no limit on the number of films that any participant(s) can submit.

Any film that is (or was) available for public viewing prior to its submission, or that was screened in NIFFFI 2020 is not eligible.

A film must be an original work, the authorship or title of which vests in the participant(s). Adaptations or inclusion of any third-party content must be with the permission of the copyright owner.

All entries must be submitted before September 15th. Requests for extension, if any, will be considered at the discretion of the Organisers.

Fee

An entry fee of Rs. 400 shall apply to each film.
Students (of any recognised academic institution in India or abroad), including those who graduated last academic year, will be provided a 75% fee waiver. The entry fee for eligible participants shall be Rs. 100 per form.

Those applying for the waiver are required to upload a copy of their ID card issued by the academic institution to be eligible for the waiver. The decision of the Organisers shall be final in the event of any question regarding the eligibility of any participant(s) for the waiver.

Proof of payment, that includes the bank account number used for transaction, must be uploaded as part of the entry form. Submission of an entry will not be deemed complete in its absence.

Entry fee once paid will not be refunded if the film is not submitted or is recalled by the participant(s). Requests for refund, if any, will be considered at the discretion of the Organisers.

The Nila International Film Folklore Festival of India is organised by the Vayali Folklore Group, Kerala and associated persons (the “Organisers”). These rules may be changed for any reason, at any time at the discretion of the Organisers of NIFFFI 2021.
