Our mission is to connect people through great films, lively conversation and a shared cultural experience.

No Coast Film Fest is committed to promoting the short film genre by bringing together established and first-time filmmakers from Kansas and all over the world in a forum to celebrate the short film genre.

NCFF is a local, national and international celebration of cinema, running annually for just one day on the 31st August in Emporia, Kansas. Award-winning short films from the international film festival circuit to new discoveries are selected to be screened at the Emporia Arts Center. We showcase the latest and best international and American shorts along with programs that focus on “Unseen Kansas”, our amazing home state. The Festival presents three awards, including the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award and the Kraken Award for the most unexpected short.

Festivals are extraordinary beasts – unique collaborations that fuse art, audience, and place. They excite, enrage, engage and entertain.
Film uniquely embeds culture into everyday life and so we want the Festival to enhance the quality of civic life in Emporia. As the defining art form of the modern age, film endures because of its relevance, popularity and its democratic nature. Film also changes and evolves. No Coast Film Festival provides a space to challenge perceptions, provoke debate and influence film culture in Kansas and beyond. We are a catalyst bringing people together for a shared experience; activating debate, empathy, anger, understanding, happiness or sadness, emotions that are the lifeblood of a community like Emporia.
We enable filmmakers to meet their audience, and for dialogue to happen.
We support and provide a platform for filmmakers who might not otherwise have an opportunity to show their films in Kansas. We help them build new audiences and expose their work to young people exploring the world through film for the first time, to veteran movie loves. We support the development of film and film literacy, through the exhibition of outstanding work selected from filmmakers locally and globally. We are a festival providing a lens on the world, connecting people through film and conversation.

We are No Coast Film Fest.
