The Santo Tomás Talca 2026 Vertical Audiovisual Festival is the inaugural edition of a competition dedicated exclusively to the vertical format (9:16), organized by the Communication and Design Department of Instituto Profesional Santo Tomás, Talca campus.

The festival will take place on July 2, 2026, and aims to be a space for encounter, experimentation, and recognition for audiovisual creators of all ages and nationalities.

The open call includes four categories: Adaptation (exclusive to Santo Tomás Digital Audiovisual Communication students), Music Video, AI-generated Videos (open to all of Latin America), and Schools (for high school students from the Maule Region). All works must be in 9:16 format, 1080p resolution at 30 fps, with a runtime between 2 and 10 minutes.

Each category awards a Best Short Film prize and a Special Jury Mention, evaluated by a jury of national and international professionals from the audiovisual, arts, and cultural sectors.

3. TYPE OF WORKS

Short films recorded or adapted and edited in vertical format 9:16 at 30 fps.

4. CATEGORIES

• Adaptation
Exclusive to current students of the Digital Audiovisual Communication program at Santo Tomás, from any campus nationwide. Works must consist of a reinterpretation or adaptation of an existing work into vertical format.

Open to audiovisual filmmakers and creators presenting music videos developed in vertical format.

Open to participants from all of Latin America, focused on audiovisual creation and experimentation using artificial intelligence tools.

5. WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

Open to all audiovisual enthusiasts and filmmakers of all ages, cities, and nationalities.

6. SELECTION CRITERIA

Aspect ratio: 9:16 (vertical)
Minimum resolution: 1080p at 30 fps
All submissions will be evaluated by a team of national and international professionals

8. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

Submitting an entry implies full acceptance of these regulations.
By applying, the participant declares they hold the rights for public screening of the work, in accordance with Chilean Law N° 17.336 on Intellectual Property.
If third-party works are included, the applicant must have express authorization from the copyright holder.
The organization reserves the right to make decisions in cases not covered by these regulations.
The organization will determine the screening venues and schedules for selected works.
Submission of an entry requires confirmation of the exhibition rights of the work.

9. JURY

Composed by prominent figures from the audiovisual world, arts, and culture, both national and international.
Persons directly related to any competing work are disqualified from serving on the jury.
The jury's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
