Festival start: 28 October 2026      Festival end: 01 November 2026

The Rio Mountain Festival is the largest and oldest mountain film festival in Brazil. It takes place in Rio de Janeiro, which, despite being a coastal city, is surrounded by iconic mountains. Among these mountains are Sugarloaf Mountain, with its famous cable car; Corcovado, with the Christ the Redeemer statue; and the imposing Pedra da Gávea. All are represented in the Corcovado Trophy, awarded to the winning films.

For five days, usually in October, the public immerses itself in a program full of Brazilian and international films about adventure sports, nature, and mountain culture. The festival also features photography contests and exhibitions, book launches with author talks, art workshops, and sports activities for children.

As a member of the International Alliance for Mountain Film (IAMF), we are committed to following the principles that guide mountain film festivals in all their diversity, promoting international cooperation, sharing stories about the mountains, drawing attention to environmental issues, and celebrating the culture of outdoor life.

The Rio Mountain Festival 2026 Competitive Exhibition will distribute the following prizes:

Best Film - Grand Prize

Best Brazilian Film - Terra Brasilis Award

Best Short Film - Up to 20 minutes in length

Best Film - Mountaineering/Climbing

Best Film - Audience Award

The award-winning films, chosen by the popular jury or the official jury, will receive the “Corcovado” trophy, which will be presented at the closing ceremony.
