Accepted films will be short, medium and feature length films produced in digital video; categories in documentary, fiction, experimental or animation; movies about mountain sports, adventure or expedition; films that contribute to knowledge and protection of the environment; films about mountain culture or outdoors lifestyle.
The Rio Mountain Festival Film Competition awards are:

RIO MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL
1. 9d Produções (hereby referred as 9d Productions) is responsible for the creation and organization of the Rio Mountain Festival;
2. The Rio Mountain Festival’s goal is to show the best mountain, expeditions, and adventure films. It also aims at spreading the word about the productions of this type of films;
3. The Rio Mountain Festival 2024 - 19th International Mountain Films Festival will be held in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
FILMS
4. Films that are available online are not accepted.
5. Entries can be of any duration – short, medium and feature length films – in digital format. The Festival accepts entries in the following categories: documentary, fiction, experimental-art or animated; mountain sports, adventure or expedition films; films that add knowledge or promote the preservation of the environment; mountain culture or outdoor life style.
APPLICATION PROCESS
6. Registration for the film will cost US$10.00;
7. The person responsible for the film must access Festhome (festhome.com) website to register their film; then, you must register it on our festival page, available on both registration platform.
8. Entry deadline: September 12th, 2024;
9. Film registration costs for the selection process are borne by their respective representatives (director and/or producer).
10. The films’ promotional materials (photo, trailer, and poster) may be used by 9d Productions for promotional purposes of the Festival or the film in the festival’s website or in any printed or electronic media with no costs;
11. The Festival Organizing Committee is not responsible for the images or music used in the submitted films. Any charges and/or copyright problems are the film director’s and/or producer’s responsibility.
12. All foreign films must be accompanied by the script in english with time codes. The Festival will pay for the translation and subtitling costs.
SELECTION PROCESS
13. The results of the selection process will be announced on September 27th, 2024 at www.riomountainfestival.com.br. An email will also be sent to the entrants;
14. The Organizing Committee invites professionals and athletes with no connections to the submitted films to be part of the Selection Committee. They choose the films that will compete at the International Festival;
15. The following criteria will be evaluated during the selection process:
a) Theme and technical quality;
b) If the production line is in agreement with the Festival’s.
16. The Selection Committee will select the films for the International Festival. It also has the autonomy to disqualify those films that do not follow the regulations.
17. After the results are out, those selected will be required to provide a copy of the film in codec h264 and in Full HD maximum resolution. The file submitted must follow the specifications that will be described to those selected. To be sent by the registration platform until October 11st, 2024.
Awards
18. A Jury of up to five people will judge and award the films at the International Festival.
19. The Jury may include directors, producers, athletes, critics, journalists, photographers, and other professionals – all of them with no connection to the selected films.
20. The 2024 International Festival (Rio Mountain Festival Film Competition) awards are:
“Cidade do Rio” Award – Best Film
“Terra Brasilis” Award – Best Brazilian Film
Best Photography
Best Short Film - 15 minutes orless
Audience Award
21. Winners will be announced during the award ceremony at the end of the Festival. The winning films will be awarded the “Corcovado” trophy.
GENERAL INFORMATION
22. The Festival producers may invite up to two people of each selected film to the public screening of the film and to participate at the award ceremony.
23. In relation to # 22 of this document, all travel and hotel costs to the Festival are the responsibility of the film’s director, producer, or copyright holder.
24. 9d Productions may alter, reduce, or add to the application process described in this document if there is a need of adjustment of the show’s schedule. In that case, 9d will notify entrants by email no later than 30 days before the event.
