Festival start: 20 May 2027      Festival end: 20 May 2027

We're tired of participation trophies and lukewarm reviews. You spend months on a film (sometimes years) and the only feedback you get is a rejection email. If you're lucky. Most festivals don't even bother with that.

Roast Film Fest exists to break that cycle. We created a festival where the feedback is the product. Not vague, not diplomatic, not designed to protect your feelings. Real critique, specific, actionable and delivered with the kind of wit that makes it impossible to ignore.

The format borrows from the American comedy tradition of the roast: you submit your work, you sit in the hot seat, and you hear exactly what's wrong with it. But underneath the humor, there's genuine respect for your ambition. We roast because we believe you can do better.

We don't hate your film. We just love cinema too much to let you get away with mediocrity.

Every major filmmaker was told their work wasn't good enough at some point. The difference between those who made it and those who didn't? They had someone honest enough to say it and they listened.

The festival circuit gives you silence. We give you fire.

Every film that stepped onto the spit comes out with a number. No participation trophies, no diplomatic limbo.

But rest assured, the higher you get on the leaderboard, the more chance you get to be in the annual screening.

Please read all rules and guidelines carefully before submitting your project.

*Eligibility & Submission*

The festival accepts films of all genres with a runtime between 1 and 30 minutes.

The submitter must be at least 18 years old at the time of submission.

The submitter must own all rights to the submitted film, including music, images, and any third-party content.

Student filmmakers must provide a valid student ID if submitting under a student category.

Language & Subtitles

Films not in French must include English subtitles.

French-language films are exempt from this requirement.

Selection & Judging

The festival reserves the right to refuse any submission deemed inappropriate or not aligned with the festival’s standards.

All decisions made by the selection committee and jury are final and not subject to appeal.

The festival is not obligated to provide feedback or disclose information about the selection committee.

Fees & Refunds

All submission fees are non-refundable, regardless of selection outcome.

Rights & Usage

By submitting, you grant the festival the right to use excerpts of your film (including trailer, teaser, poster, and stills) for promotional purposes.

The festival will not publish or distribute the full film online.

All copyright and ownership remain with the original creators.

Festival Rights

The festival reserves the right to:
Modify, add, or remove rules and terms at any time.

Change event dates, venue, awards, or categories.

Reschedule or cancel the event if necessary, without prior notice.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
