The Sakhalin International Film Festival has become an important initiative promoting independent cinema and is considered today as one of the most important cultural events related to independent cinema in the city of Sakhalin, Russia. The mission of the festival is to draw attention to independent cinema from all over the world, which both films and their creators deserve.
The film festival is held under the patronage of the Governor of the Sakhalin Region. Founder: Ministry of Culture and Archival Affairs of the Sakhalin Region. Executor: State Autonomous Institution of Culture “Sakhalin Cinema and Leisure Association”.

By submitting your film, you agree that Sakhalin International Film Festival can use parts of your film (including trailer/teaser/film poster) for promotional purposes.
To submit a film, you must have created the project yourself, own the rights, or have permission from the owner of the content to submit the film to us.
Sakhalin International Film Festival will review films in their entirety. Films will be watched and reviewed by members of the Selection Committee; a professional group of filmmakers, film enthusiasts, and critics. Films are scored accordingly.
ALL FILMS THAT MAKE THE FINAL SELECTION ARE REQUIRED TO SEND US A DCP FORMAT OF THEIR FILM TO US VIA WETRANSFER OR ANY LINK THAT WE CAN DOWNLOAD THEIR FILES FROM
1. Entries in foreign languages must come with english subtitles.
2. All entries must have been completed AFTER January 2020
3. Works in progress will be considered. Final Films must be submitted before the set deadline.
4. All rights including music clearance must be confirmed by the Film’s Producer(s)
5. Multiple entries are allowed. You may submit more than one film in the same category.
6. At our discretion, we may choose to transfer a film to the correct category.
7. A screening committee will determine which films will be exhibited, submissions are not guaranteed to be shown. All decisions of the committee are final.
8. After a film has been selected, the filmmaker will be notified.
9. Winners will be presented with their awards during the Sakhalin International Film Festival awards Ceremony, which will take place at the festival in June 2022
10. Submissions are NON-refundable. We cannot be held liable for materials that are lost or damaged.
