Due to COVID, THe festival has been postponed until September 2021.
This year the Symi International Film Festival will run from 14 to 18 September 2020.
The Symi International Film Festival is held on the small Greek Island of Symi, one of the Dodecanese Islands close to Rhodes.
The Symi International Film Festival is part of the official Symi Festival. This is organised by the Municipality of Symi and runs from July to September.
The films will be shown at an outdoor venue (indoors if it rains). There are no charges to watch films at the festival.
Awards are determined (and sent) by the organisers taking into account feedback from the films’ audiences.
Award categories include best feature film, best short film, best actor (male and female). Other awards are made at the discretion of the organisers.
Films with dialogue-
If not in English, a file in .srt format of the English subtitles must be provided at the same time as the film is submitted for consideration.
If the dialogue is in English then a separate .srt file must be made available.
It is highly recommended that films have Greek subtitles (if not already with Greek dialogue). We have a translation service available for a modest charge, with the fee payable directly to the translator. The translated file remains the property of the film maker.
Films entered in the Student Category-
All submissions must be accompanied by evidence that the film was made by students.
