Festival start: 12 November 2026 Festival end: 15 November 2026
The festival aims to give a definitive boost to film production in the region by inviting national and international figures to spend a few days here, thereby raising awareness of the region, its people, and its culture. It will be a regional and local festival featuring national and international categories, transforming the region and its rural areas into movie theaters for four days.
The official selection of the Historias de Región—Relatos campesinos Festival will compete for the statuette awarded by the festival to the winners and the other honors to be presented.
The winners will be announced on November 15, 2026, during the festival’s awards ceremony and closing ceremony.
RULES FOR THE SIXTH EDITION, HISTORIAS DE REGIÓN
The sixth edition of the Historias de Región Festival aims to highlight works that reflect the diversity of Colombia’s six regions, with a focus on stories created by authors, production companies, or collectives interested in showcasing the identity of their territories—that is, rural stories.
The call for entries begins on June 30, and participants may submit their entries until August 28 at 11:59 p.m. Colombian time.
Anyone from the following regions may apply to any of our categories: Spain, Portugal, and the United States.
The call for entries is open to productions filmed and shot in any technical format (digital, 35mm, 16mm, among others); participants must submit their works meeting minimum quality standards (Full HD, 4K), otherwise they will not be considered.
Submitted works must be recorded, dubbed, or, failing that, subtitled in Spanish.
Each filmmaker or collective may submit a maximum of two works in different categories; works do not need to be unpublished and may have previously won awards at other festivals.
Audiovisual productions must have been completed after January 1, 2024.
The festival consists of 4 categories that you must consider when submitting your work:
* Documentary Short (divided into national and international entries)
* Fiction Short (divided into national and international entries)
* Animated Short (national and international entries compete in the same category)
* Regional Stories Short (national and international entries) compete in the same category, with themes that highlight stories set in the countryside, the jungle, and the remote regions of their countries.
The Fiction Short Film and Animated Short Film categories will only accept entries with a total runtime of no more than 15 minutes. In the Documentary Short Film category, the maximum runtime is 30 minutes; any entry that exceeds these limits will be automatically disqualified.
The Regional Story Short Film category accepts only entries with a duration of at least 7 minutes and no more than 15 minutes; any entry submitted in this category that does not meet these time requirements will be disqualified.
Submissions must be accompanied by a synopsis, the personal information of the author or the collective responsible for the work, a signed technical form, and a related photograph. You must also submit a brief summary of the artistic production and a resume of the author or the collective responsible for the work. (This information must be sent to historiasderegionfest@gmail.com.) If you submit your entry without the required documentation, your work will not be considered for the sixth edition of the festival.
Once a work is selected, the festival will notify the applicants, who will have eight (8) days from the date of notification to send us the exhibition authorization via email to historiasderegionfest@gmail.com.
Registration for the festival can only be completed through the two authorized channels: FestHome and the Google Forms link posted on our social media platforms.
Shortlisted entrants and/or winners grant the rights of reproduction and exhibition, strictly for cultural or educational purposes, for the sixth edition of the “Historias de Región 2026” Festival archives, and/or potential Festival exhibitions, in different parts of Colombia and around the world during the 2026–2027 period, with prior notification to participants.
Contestants are responsible for ensuring that the works submitted are not subject to any legal claims; should a work present any issues, the festival reserves the right to exclude it from the exhibition, and it will be automatically disqualified.
