REGULATIONS
The VIII Curta Lages International Film Festival promotes a broad, diverse and
international program, holding competitive and non-competitive screenings of short
and feature films of all formats and genres.
All editions of Curta Lages were held with the support of Coletivo Audiovisual
Lageano (CAL). It is a group formed in 2014 that works to promote audiovisual
production in the Serra Catarinense region. Formed by several artists, cultural
producers and local professionals in the sector, CAL aims to promote actions linked
to the appreciation, incentive and democratization of audiovisual.
1. REGISTRATION CONDITIONS
1. PERIOD AND LOCATION
The VIII Curta Lages International Film Festival will be held from August 25 to 31,
2025, in the city of Lages, SC, Brazil, with in-person and online screenings.
2. TYPE OF FESTIVAL
The 7th Curta Lages International Film Festival is a competitive and informative
festival, in addition to presenting non-competitive exhibitions.

3. REGISTRATION AND WORKS
Registration for the 8th Curta Lages International Film Festival took place from June
1 to July 1, 2025, through an online form, the event's official website and the
FESTHOME platform.
Individuals and legal entities with a directorial and/or production role in the registered
work may register.
Films with a release date from 2024 onwards will be accepted, except for films from
Santa Catarina, which continue without restrictions on completion date, release date
and final time of the work.
Registration for the 8th Curta Lages International Film Festival is free of charge.
Except in special cases authorized by the curators, registrations with delivery of
physical media or sent via other virtual channels will not be accepted.
Films submitted for selection must guarantee the copyright of the images and
soundtrack contained in the work to be shown at the Festival and in non-profit public
screenings and exempt the organization of the VIII Curta Lages International Film
Festival from paying any copyright fees at the time of screening.
Short and feature-length films, both national and international, will be accepted,
following the following length: short up to 15 minutes, feature over 70 minutes,
except for films from Santa Catarina, which have no restrictions on the date of
completion, release or final time of the work.
The works accepted for registration may be of any category or genre: fiction,
documentary, animation, experimental, hybrid (doc and fic), collective creation and
children's and youth.
Preference will be given to works that include accessibility mechanisms through
Libras, descriptive subtitles or audio description.
Films with speech in languages other than Portuguese must send subtitles in
Portuguese (Brazil) via SRT file.
The works must be submitted through online viewing platforms, and when selected,
the files of the registered productions must be sent to the following video sharing
platforms: Google Drive, Dropbox or the FESTHOME platform, with access
passwords (if applicable). And informing of any changes to them, if any. Files in
high-quality MP4, H264 or ProRes format will be accepted.
The selected works will be shown publicly and free of charge on the days designated
by the Festival, according to a previously prepared calendar, making it clear that the
authors or producers of the works, by participating, grant authorization for such
screenings. The organization may publish printed material about the works to be
exhibited. The authors and/or producers of the works also authorize the use of a
fragment of the works for broadcasting in any means of publicizing the festival.

The Festival will not pay any screening fees to the authors/distributors of the
selected films.
Once selected, the film cannot be withdrawn from the competition.
The curators reserve the right to refuse entries. The curatorial coordination and the
festival's programming director reserve the right to disqualify films that have been
approved by the curatorial committee, even if already announced in the program,
and have not completed subsequent stages of qualification.
Upon registration, participants will accept the festival rules and grant all screening
rights after selection by the Festival's curatorial committee.
The curatorial committee's decision is final, and there will be no appeals or questions
regarding the criteria used to select the works SELECTED for the VIII Curta Lages
International Film Festival.
4. The jury will award the following prizes:
Best International Feature Film.
Best International Short Film.
Best National Feature Film.
Best National Short Film.
Best Documentary Research
Best Screenplay
Best Direction
Best Acting
Best Feature Film (Public Jury)
Best Short Film (Public Jury)
There will be no trophies, only virtual laurels.
