The ZAFIC International Film Festival (ZAFIC) is a cultural platform based in Mosquera, Colombia, that promotes cinema and audiovisual storytelling as tools for dialogue, community engagement, cultural exchange, and territorial development.

For its 9th edition, taking place from October 15 to 18, 2026, ZAFIC presents the thematic focus “Possible Futures / Futuros Posibles”, inviting creators from around the world to share stories that imagine, question, transform, and reimagine the future of our communities and territories.

ZAFIC welcomes short films and audiovisual works from any country and genre through three curatorial sections:

• Kids / Infancias
Works created for children, schools, and young audiences, encouraging imagination, creativity, learning, and intergenerational dialogue.

• Territory / Territorio
Works that explore identity, memory, heritage, community life, rurality, environment, cultural diversity, and social transformation.

• New Voices / Nuevas Voces
Works that present emerging perspectives, innovative narratives, new technologies, experimental approaches, or contemporary ways of understanding the world.

More than a film festival, ZAFIC seeks to connect cinema with communities, education, culture, and the future of territories through meaningful audiovisual experiences.

All submitted works must be spoken, dubbed, or subtitled in Spanish.

OFFICIAL SELECTION & RECOGNITIONS

ZAFIC 2026 is a curated festival focused on the circulation of meaningful audiovisual works and the creation of connections between creators, communities, and territories.

The festival grants the following official recognitions:

• Official Recognition – Kids / Infancias
• Official Recognition – Territory / Territorio
• Official Recognition – New Voices / Nuevas Voces
• Audience Recognition / Reconocimiento del Público
• Colombian Film Recognition / Reconocimiento a la Obra Colombiana

Selected works will become part of the Official Selection of ZAFIC 2026 and will receive an official digital selection laurel issued by the festival.

OFFICIAL RULES

1. ZAFIC 2026 accepts short films and audiovisual works from any country.

2. All works must have been completed on or after January 1, 2023.

3. Submitted works must belong to one of the following curatorial sections:

• Kids / Infancias
• Territory / Territorio
• New Voices / Nuevas Voces

4. Maximum duration: 20 minutes.

5. All genres are accepted, including fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, music video, hybrid formats, and emerging audiovisual languages.

6. All works must be spoken, dubbed, or subtitled in Spanish.

7. The submitter must own or represent the rights required for exhibition at the festival.

8. By submitting, participants authorize the festival to use excerpts, still images, posters, trailers, and promotional materials exclusively for communication, educational, and promotional purposes related to ZAFIC.

9. The festival selection committee will evaluate all submissions and determine the Official Selection.

10. The decisions of the selection committee are final.

11. Selected works may be included in in-person screenings, educational screenings, community screenings, and special festival activities.

12. Submission to the festival implies full acceptance of these rules.
