Rules & Regulations

Rules-LawGiven following is a brief summary of some of the more important rules and policies followed by the Festival and its various committees.

For GBIFF’2014, as the focus group and theme of the festival is Children, entries must comprise only of films on Children, for Children or, by Children, under the specified categories.

However, any filmmaker (director, producer or authorised owner of the content) can send the entry. There is no bar on any demographic basis e.g. age, gender, nationality, religion etc. GBIFF is committed to promote multiplicity of gender and ethnicity.

There is no entry fee for participating in the competitions or contests. However, all the necessary enclosures as specified in the entry form or contest sections, are mandatory.

Incomplete entries without the necessary enclosures will summarily be rejected.

Any attempt to change the form to conceal any information or mislead the GBIFF management shall be considered the breach of Rules & Regulations and will lead to outright rejection of the application.

Entries received after the deadline will summarily rejected.

The last day for accepting entries is 31st January 2014.
The last day for accepting entries from applicants who register online till 26th January is 10th February 2014.

GBIFF ’2014 is not requesting for any fees from participants for participating in the competitions or for screening their film; nor will it pay a screening fee to the filmmakers unless clearly specified and agreed on a case-to-case basis.

In view of maintaining the sanctity of Awards and Results, the names of Jury Members is not published until the final announcement of winners during the Award Ceremony.

Any attempt by any participant or anyone else on a participant’s behalf to find out the details of the Jury Members or to influence them will lead to outright rejection of that Participant’s Entry. Subsequently, the participant will also be banned from participating in the next two GBIFF Awards.

Any attempt to provide any wrong or incorrect information or to mislead the GBIFF management by any Participant will lead to outright rejection of that Participant’s Entry. Subsequently, the participant will also be banned from participating in the next two GBIFF Awards.

The copies of DVDs or any other medium on which the entry is sent to GBIFF will be a property of GBIFF and included in its library. However, GBIFF assures that it, in no way, infringes upon the IPR and Copyrights of the owner(s) of the content.

GBIFF understands that the participants know they can only send such entries for which they are authorised or clearly own the IPR/Copyrights. In the case any conflict arises with regards to the IPR/Copyrights of the content, the applicant alone will be liable to defend the claim against any such claimant.

In the case, a participant sends the entry in Print format and needs the same back after the festival, a request should accompany in this regard along with the entry. We’ll arrange to send the same back, against the postal charges to be borne by the participant.

In the case of Special Awards like “Premiere Section”, “Under-16″ or “Under-13″ prizes etc., additional documents, as specified for respective categories must be appended right at the time of sending the entry. Any such document sent later will not help the entry qualify for any such special category.

An applicant can send a maximum of two (2) entries per category. He/She can however, send entry for more/all categories at the same time.
In the case of multiple entries in one or more categories, all the entries should be treated as a separate entry and separate forms along with separate set of enclosures should be sent for each entry.

For the competitive section, the films’ date of completion or censor (whichever is later) should not be earlier than 1st January 2011.

Filmmakers can send the films made before this date for general screening section too, without competing for any prize.

Any film in a language other than Hindi or English should bear subtitles in either English or Hindi.

GBIFF management has the discretion to add, reduce, introduce, withdraw or club any award category(ies) at any point of time without any liability of having to inform anyone prior to or after any such change.

GBIFF management has the discretion to change dates, venues, any bulk bookings etc., and, or, postpone, prep one or entirely cancel the event in view of events of the future and beyond the control of the GBIFF management or otherwise. In any of such cases, GBIFF management has no liability to inform anyone prior to or after any such change.

The decisions taken by the Jury and, or, the GBIFF committees with regards to the awards or any other aspect of the event.

The decisions taken by the Managing and Organizing committees or any other sub-committees of the festival shall be final and binding in all matters pertaining to the festival.

By sending your entries, or, participating in any Competitions or contests, or engaging in any way with the Festival, you declare that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the terms of the festival, its competition and contest rules and the policies.

This page and the clauses herein represent a brief summary of some of the more important rules and policies followed by the Festival and its various committees and hence they are not all inclusive. In addition to the set of rules & regulations and policies mentioned above, the festival will be governed by the model standing orders and regulations in force and, or, practice, as may be modified and added from time to time. Where the rules are silent from the want of any clarification/interpretation of matter, the management shall be the final authority.
