Colectivo Cartón summons audiovisual producers from anywhere in the world to participate in CARTON | XI International Animation Short Film Festival (hereinafter “The Festival”), to be held in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, from November 6 to 12, 2022.

A – All those short films made from 2020 to the present, recorded on any medium, can participate. Works can only be submitted online. For this, the FESTHOME platform is available - https://festhome.com/festival/cart-n - From this platform you can send screeners of the works and complete the corresponding registration form right there. The file must be uploaded with a .mov or .mp4 extension, 1920 x 1080 p resolution, full HD, H264 encoding with a quality of up to 2 GB, without watermark. Registration will be FREE for Argentine filmmakers and will have a minimal cost for foreign filmmakers, a cost that has nothing to do with the organization of the festival. WORKS SUBMITTED BY OTHER MEANS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
B- The authors can be of any nationality. Works made in languages other than Spanish must be accompanied by subtitles, which must be part of the image.
C- Up to 3 (three) works per director and per category will be accepted.
D- Papers are received from Friday, April 1 to June 30, 2022. Papers submitted after the aforementioned date will not be accepted.
E- Along with the work to compete, the following must be included:
• Two (2) photographs of the short with a minimum quality of 300 dpi.
• One (1) photograph of the director/s.
• One (1) image of the short film poster, if any.
• Short film trailer, if any.
• Social networks of the short, if any
• Complete registration form.
By their sole participation, the director and/or producer of the work accepts that it be included in the CARTON video library and in future itinerant exhibitions.
F– Short films may be registered in any of the following categories:
• Fiction / Narrative
• Experimental / Video art
• Video clip
• Microshorts (up to 3 minutes)
• Series (See item “M”)
• Film schools / Film students
• Training workshops for children (See subsection "N")
G- The duration of the short films must not exceed 15 (fifteen) minutes in any case. After that limit, the work will be out of competition. It will depend on the Organizing Committee, in charge of the pre-selection, the decision to project the work out of competition.
H- The filmmakers will authorize the use of the material sent for the purpose of promoting the Festival and assume responsibility for the short films and undertake not to present audiovisual materials and/or phonographs over which they do not have rights of use. The exhibition rights are paid by the Festival and screen rights will not be paid. On the other hand, the organization of the Festival is not responsible for the works or the inappropriate use of intellectual property rights by the authors. The Festival will not give any type of economic compensation to the participants and/or winners.
I- The organization of the Festival will carry out a pre-selection of the material received. The material that is selected will go to the Official Competition and Official Sample (non-competitive) sections and the decisions in this regard will be final. The list of selected short films will be made public the second week of October 2022 and the filmmakers whose works remain in the competition will be informed by e-mail about the day their work will be exhibited. The organization reserves the right to relocate a work in another category if it corresponds or is considered pertinent.
J- The organizing committee will appoint an award Jury among prominent personalities from the media, who will award the prizes to the competitive categories.
K- The prizes will be divided as follows:

• Best Experimental Short / Argentine Video Art
• Best Experimental Short / International Video Art
• Best Argentine Short Film
• Best International Short Film
• Best Series

The prizes can be declared void and the Jury's decision will be final. In all cases (except mentions), a diploma and/or statuette will be awarded. In the case of adding new prizes through sponsors, they will be announced before the beginning of the Festival.
L- The announcement and award ceremony will take place during the closing day of the Festival. The winning short films undertake to include the prize obtained in their initial credits accompanied by the Festival logo.
M – Series Category. The participation of one chapter per series will be admitted. The filmmaker/producer must decide which episode to submit to the competition. Web series are accepted.
N - Training workshops for children. In this category, any educational institution that introduces students to the world of animation can participate in this section. The institution may belong indistinctly.

Showing from Schools and Animation Workshops for children and adolescents. Any educational institution which introduces students to the world of animation may participate in that section. The institution may belong either to the public or private education system, primary, intermediate, or higher. Short films from special education schools will also be considered under this item. The screening of the whole material received for this Showing depends on the total duration of the shorts and the schedule that the Festival Organization had available for that porpuse. If necessary, a selection of material received will be performed.
