FanCineQueer, the International LGBTI Film Festival of Extremadura, celebrates this year its 29th edition between the 6th and the 15th of November launching its traditional Short Films Call with the purpose of recognising, visibilising and fostering the production and dissemination of recent or unreleased LGBTI works.
현금 수상: 300€
Two awards are established, each endowed with €300 for Best Short Film and Best Documentary Short Film, to be paid after the conclusion of the festival.
Short films may also be eligible for other awards to be announced at a later date (awards in our extensions or from our sponsors).
THEME AND DURATION. Submitted short films must address lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, or queer themes. They may be of any genre (fiction, documentary, experimental, video art, etc.) and must have a running time of less than thirty (30) minutes. Works of any nationality produced and premiered during 2024, 2025, and 2026 will be accepted, provided they have not been submitted to previous editions.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE. The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2026 at 23:59 (UTC +2: CEST, Madrid). No extensions will be granted.
SUBMISSION OF MATERIALS. Short films must be submitted online, with Spanish subtitles embedded, through the official submission platform(s) enabled by the festival, which will be indicated through FanCineQueer’s official channels.
FORMATS. Accepted screening formats are AVI, MP4 (H.264 codec), and MOV, with a minimum resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels (Full HD).
PRESELECTION. The festival reserves the right to reject works that do not meet minimum technical quality standards or that do not clearly reflect the themes of the call in any of their plots or subplots, as well as those that have already been submitted in previous calls.
SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION. The jury, appointed by the organizing entity and composed of professionals from the fields of Audiovisual Communication, Cultural Management, and LGBTI activism, will evaluate the preselected works according to criteria of artistic and technical quality and their relevance to the theme of the call.
As a result of this evaluation, the works that will form part of the official program of the 29th edition of the festival will be determined. Among the selected works, the following awards will be granted:
– Best Short Film | 29 FanCineQueer
– Best Documentary Short Film | 29 FanCineQueer
Notification of the selected works will be made no later than October 15, 2026, by email sent to the address provided in the submission form.
The festival will not individually notify non-selected works and will subsequently publish the list of selected works.
The individual or legal entity that has submitted the selected work may only make public announcements or any kind of communication regarding its participation in the festival once it has been officially announced through the festival’s official channels.
PROMOTION. Promotional excerpts of the programmed works may be made, with a maximum duration of four (4) minutes, for use in cinemas, internet, television, or other promotional distribution formats.
Likewise, the material provided by the individual or legal entity submitting the work may be used for promotional purposes and/or for inclusion in the official festival catalogue.
Any limitation or restriction regarding the use of such materials must be communicated in writing to the FanCineQueer organization.
LIABILITIES. FanCineQueer assumes no responsibility for technical issues arising from the digital submission of works or for possible defects in the files provided for screening.
In the event of technical problems attributable to the submitted copy, the organization may request the submission of a new file within the indicated deadline.
The festival assumes no responsibility for any infringement related to copyright or third-party rights; such responsibility lies exclusively with the individual or legal entity submitting the work.
GRANT OF SCREENING RIGHTS. If the work is selected, the person submitting it authorizes the organizing entity of the International LGBTI Film Festival of Extremadura – FanCineQueer to publicly screen it, free of charge and on a non-exclusive basis, within the framework of the 29th edition of the festival.
This authorization includes its screening at any of the official venues, extensions, and activities linked to the festival within the territory of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, during the festival dates and associated programming period.
