Festival start: 05 April 2022      Festival end: 28 June 2022

WELCOME TO OUR TWENTY-FIFTH SPRING SERIES WHICH WILL RUN MONTHLY FROM APRIL 5 THRU JUNE 28.

WE HOPE TO BE BACK IN THEATERS THIS SPRING; BUT IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE, WE WILL CONTINUE RUNNING MONTHLY ONLINE SCREENINGS WITH FILMMAKERS INTRODUCTIONS. ONLINE HAS BROUGHT IN A MUCH WIDER AND INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE FOR OUR SHOWS AND MAY WELL BE THE FUTURE OF FILM FESTIVALS.

WE WILL ALSO SCHEDULE ADDITIONAL ALTFEST AND YOUNGFILMMAKERS SCREENINGS. YOU CAN SUBMIT HERE OR ON THEIR RESPECTIVE FESTHOME PAGES.

NewFilmmakers NY is New York's longest running year round Film Festival.

Live Events were held weekly at Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Avenue New York, NY before shutdown.

NewFilmmakers screens roughly 700 short and feature length projects throughout the year grouped into special interest nights. Some of our ongoing programs include NewLatino, Middle East, Christian Sex, Upcoming Women, Experimental, and Crime & Punishment. NewFilmmakers is an international series with an eye towards films shot in the tri-state (NY - NJ - PA) and surrounding areas.

Throughout it's twenty-five year run NewFilmmakers has provided a platform for first time and veteran filmmakers. This doesn't need to be your first film to submit to NewFilmmakers. Some of the films we have screened include Indie Spirit Award winner "Too Much Sleep," "The Blair Witch Project," and Academy Award winner "Mr. Hublot".

Quarterly Audience Choice Awards for Feature, Short, Documentary, and Webseries along with Honorable Mentions when we are back in theaters

NewFilmmakers New York (“AltFest” “YoungFilmmakers” henceforth “sections”) are hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless NewFilmmakers New York and its sections from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.

By submitting your film to NewFilmmakers NY or its sections you commit to a possible public screening of your film with NewFilmmakers NY. Films submitted may be moved, at the programmer’s discretion, within sections.

NewFilmmakers and its sections are not liable for the return of films which have been submitted for screening or adjudication.

NewFilmmakers and its sections do not pay screening fees.

NewFilmmakers and its sections reserve the right to cancel and/or change screening dates without prior contact.

All submission fees to the festival and/or sections are nonrefundable. Filmmaker understands that submitting to multiple sections does not improve their chances of screening.

By being accepted into the NewFilmmakers or one of the section programs you agree to send a Digital screener within the stipulated deadline or forfeit your screening date. NewFilmmakers and its sections are not responsible for rescheduling films which have been pulled from consideration by the submitting party or have not furnished an accompanying digital screener within reasonable time.

NewFilmmakers and its sections are not responsible for the costs of receiving or shipping DCPs and all DCPs must be accompanied by a digital screener.
