- Films in languages other than Spanish must be submitted with Spanish language subtitles or, at least, a dilaogue list in eiter English or Spanish.

- Competitive feature films sections for films produced after January, 1st, 2017.

- A feature film is considered to be longer than 60 minutes.

Shortfilm Competitive Section. Films must have been produced after January 1st 2017.

Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre (BARS) is an international film festival devoted to the genres of HORROR, science fiction and fantasy.

Born in 2000 to put focus on independent genre film, and since 2004 in the form of a competitive festival.

REGULATIONS – XVIII BUENOS AIRES ROJO SANGRE FILM FESTIVAL

19th Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre International Fantastic, Bizarre and Horror film festiv

Festival Regulations to submit a film (feature and shortfilm):

a) To submit a film to selection by the Festival Organizing Committee you must:
1. send screener online through the following platform Festhome
2. send by e-mail to materialbars@gmail.com:
• -the authorization letter, completed and scanned.
• -a photo of the film (scanned at 300dpi),
• -synopsis and technical sheet
• -poster (only feature films)
• -online trailer (only feature films)
• -Spanish subtitles or dialogue list
3. The material should be sent before August 1st 2017.

b) If you need to send the material by Fedex, TNT or other courier, please send us e-mail (materialbars@gmail.com ) to ask for mailing am adress for such aim.

c) Shipping/mailing must be fully paid by the participant, the same goes for taxes, customs charges, etc., that may happen during the delivery. The festival would not pay for any charge regarding the delivery of the material.

d) The inscription costs 3u$s for shortfilms, except the produced in latin American countries. The feature films are excepted too.

e) The Festival Committee will only consider for selection films related to the following genres: horror, bizarre, science-fiction and fantastic. In the categories: short films, small feature and feature films.

f) If the film is selected to participate on the Festival, the Committee will contact the producer or director to decide the screening format.

Available screening formats to FEATURE FILMS are: DCP, Blu-Ray, or 1080p.
Available screening formats to SHORT FILMS are HD 720p or 1080p, only with the following exportation:
(please send no menu, without adjustment bars and with three seconds of black)
Codec H.264
Resolution: 720p or 1080p.
Audio Channels: 2 (stereo)
Audio Sample Rate: 48kHz
Audio Bit Depth: 16 o 24 bits

g) The Festival sections are:

1. Feature Competitive Section. Films must have been produced after January 1st 2016.

2. Feature Informative Section for feature films: Non competitive section for films from any year of production.

3. Shortfilm Competitive Section. Films must have been produced after January 1st 2016.

4. Informative Section of Shortfilms: Non competitive section whitout restrictions of duration and year of production.

5. The festival reserves the right to organize new competitive sections not covered by these rules.

h) It is considered as feature films the productions longer than 60 minutes.

i) Only can participate in the competitive sections those films which had no means of electronic broadcasting or which had no public screening in Buenos Aires City or its surroundings in the 90 days prior to the beginning of the Festival. For the rest of the sections the Festival will take into their best consideration for programming those films which had no public screening in Buenos Aires City or its surroundings. The films may not be withdrawn from the festival after the selection is made known.

j) The Festival organizers will select the jury members of every section. Members cannot be those related or with special interest on the production and/or exploitation of the films in competition. Awards will be given under the following categories:

1. Best Feature Film

2. Best Feature Director

3. Best Actor in a Feature Film

4. Best Actress in a Feature Film

5. Best Feature Screenplay

6. Best Feature FX

7. Best Feature Cinematography

8. Best Short Film

9. Best Argentinean Short Film

10. Best Short Film Director

11. Audience Award for Best Short Film

12. Best Iberoamerican Feature Film

13. Best Iberoamerican Feature Director

14. Best Actor in Iberoamerican Feature Film

15. Audience Award for Best Feature

16. Audience Award for Best Bizarre Feature
Films cannot receive more than two prizes.
The Jury can give special mentions. Films cannot receive more than two special mentions.

k)The Festival has the right to select the films, to determine in which section will be in, and to program the screening day and order of exhibition.

l) The Festival accepts to screen the films with no more than three (3) runs.

m) Original language must be Spanish or with Spanish subtitles. If not, English subtitles, a dialogue list in Spanish or in English must be submitted for translation and subtitling.

n) By submitting a film to the Festival, the entrant accepts the Rules and regulations. The Festival organizers will decide over any issue that may come up during the Festival, and their decision will be final.
