Born in Sweden in 2020, The North Film Festival (TNFF) was created with one goal in mind: to celebrate bold, independent cinema from around the world — and to connect the hearts of filmmakers and film lovers across borders.

Over the last several years, TNFF has grown into a dynamic platform with both online and live editions, proudly supporting Swedish filmmakers while welcoming international voices. Our deep belief in the power of this project even led us to expand — giving birth to our sister festival, The North Film Festival – New York City, which has since become a strong and respected presence in the U.S.

Our Live event for the Barcelona audience took place on Feb 18th - 20th, 2026. We made history in Barcelona — LIVE.

Now, we take the next bold step.

The North Film Festival is officially moving to Madrid, Spain — and it’s going LIVE.

January 13–15, 2027

After building editions in Stockholm and Barcelona, we are now establishing Madrid as the new Spanish home of TNFF. Madrid is one of Europe’s most vibrant cinematic capitals — a city rich in film culture, storytelling tradition, and international creative energy. It is the perfect place for the next chapter of our festival.

Tras haber construido ediciones en Estocolmo y Barcelona, ahora establecemos Madrid como la nueva sede española de TNFF. Madrid es una de las capitales cinematográficas más vibrantes de Europa — una ciudad rica en cultura cinematográfica, tradición narrativa y energía creativa internacional. Es el lugar perfecto para el próximo capítulo de nuestro festival.
