Short film exhibition in summer cinema format in Jaraba Square (Zaragoza).

A non-profit effort to bring the art of the big screen and audiovisual communication to rural areas of rural Spain.

The objectives of the "Castillo de Jaraba" Short Film Exhibition are the dissemination, promotion, and screening of cinematographic works, as well as the public's awareness of them. The submitted works are not eligible for any cash prize, only for public appreciation.

All award-winning short films in each section will receive an exclusive trophy made of cut-out paper designed by Jose Antonio Berdie from the permanent Eustaquio Castellano cut-out toy exhibition.

Paco Sicilia Best Cinematography Trophy and Special Prize. All short films participating in the competition are eligible for this section.

For the seventh year, the C.S.A. association "El Castillo de Jaraba" and the cultural association "El Lavadero de Jaraba," with the support of the Jaraba City Council, are organizing a non-profit short film screening to bring audiovisual creation to our town of 250 inhabitants through a summer film event.


Competition Rules

1. Any audiovisual work is accepted: fiction, documentary, video art, animation, or music video from anywhere in the world.

Short films not in Spanish must be subtitled in Spanish.

The exhibition will be divided into sections:

General Section, Fiction, Animation, Horror-Fantasy, International, Comedy, and Cinema from Alto Jalón.

This year, we will have an out-of-competition section, with the premiere of works produced in the Jaraba area.

1. A dedicated section for audiovisual productions under the name El Alto Jalón, with a special prize donated by the digital media outlet of the same name. This section will also include films made or located in any of the rural areas belonging to the Alto Jalón region or whose filmmakers are from the area.

2. This year, the "Exencia Xarzaba" award is being introduced, honoring the best international work in Spanish from anywhere in the world (Latin America, the United States, Equatorial Guinea, etc.).

3. Also new is the "La despensa del Mesa" award for best comedy.

4. This year, the "Paco Sicilia" award for best photography is being introduced, in honor of Paco Sicilia, a local photographer who recently passed away.

5. The maximum length of short films may not exceed 10 minutes, including credits.

6. Submissions will be made through the Festhome platform, https://festhome.com/


7. No short films will be compensated for screening rights.

8. There will be only one award per section, which will be an exclusive trophy made of cut-out paper designed by Jose Antonio Berdie from the Eustaquio Castellano Permanent Toy Exhibition.

9. The named awards will include a gift donated by each of the participating local establishments.

10. The jury will be composed of members of the two organizing associations and additional local residents.

11. The selected works will be screened free of charge at the Plaza Afán de Ribera in Jaraba on August 8 and 9, 2025.
