"The 9/16 Film Fest is an international film festival in vertical format that aims to foster the creation and promotion of audiovisual content specifically designed in 9:16.

Our objectives are:

- Democratize creation, allowing creativity to flourish independently of available resources.

- Promote collaboration and reward excellence in vertical content, providing a platform for emerging filmmakers.

- Stay at the forefront of technology, following consumer trends, and educating in this format.

The selection is divided into several categories:

- Fiction
- Animation
- Microdocumentary
- Advertising Spot
- One-Minute Video
- Video Art (Music, Dance, Performance...)
- Travel Vlog
- Capaces. (Short films focused on raising awareness and sharing experiences, achievements and challenges of people with disabilities) Category in collaboration with AVIVA

These categories can also compete for:

- "Most Viral" Award
- "9/16" Award (best technical adaptation to the vertical format)

The event also includes non-competitive sections such as screenings, talks, gastronomy..."

The selected short films and videos will be eligible for prizes valued at 15.000€.

1. 9/16 Film Fest is an international short film festival, in which both national and international artists can participate.

2. The format: vertical 9:16, silent or with sound and produced after January 1, 2019.

3. The categories of the 9/16 Film Fest will be the following:

- Short fiction film: narrative short films.

- Animation short film: short films using animation techniques.

- Advertising spot: Video created with the purpose of promoting a product, service, brand or idea.

- One-Minute Video: Tell us a story in less than a minute.

- Video art (culture, fine arts, musical...): Video as a vehicle for artistic creation. Concepts, emotions, visual styles and experimentation with form and content (including music, dance, performance...).

- Micro-documentary/news/current events: Short films of documentary genre.

- Travel Vlog (experiences, adventure...): Videos that follow the experiences of a traveler or a group of travelers as they explore different destinations.

- "Capaces" (Short films that focus on raising awareness and disseminating experiences, achievements and challenges of people with disabilities. Category in collaboration with AVIVA Salamanca foundation, an organization that provides assistance and services for people with disabilities in Salamanca).

4. All works submitted will be eligible to win a maximum of 3 prizes:

- Winner of the category in which it participates.

- 9/16 Award: Short films in any category that have been best adapted technically to the vertical format 9:16.

- "The Most Viral" Award: Short films in any category that have received the most votes (likes) from the public.

5. The maximum duration of all categories will be 5 minutes, with the exception of the "One-Minute Video" category, where the maximum duration of each piece will be 1 minute, and the advertising spot category, where it will be 40 seconds.

6. Each category will have a maximum of 5 finalists, who will be the nominees for the first prize in the category for which they are presented.

7. The videos can be in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Basque or in a foreign language. All of them must contain subtitles (see technical requirements for participation).

8. Each participating artist can publish a maximum of 3 works that can be in the same or in different categories.

9. The selected short films will be exhibited on the festival's website and networks prior to their screening during the festival so that they can be voted by the public for the category "The most viral".

10. The authors of the short films selected for the competition will be able to present their films, if they wish, before the screening.

11. The decisions of the Selection Committee and the Jury are final.

12. The copies in their screening format of the nominated and, therefore, participating short films will remain the property of the Festival, for their advertising use in future editions.

13. The production and/or distribution companies of the selected or awarded audiovisuals must include a written reference to the awarding of said selection or prize at the beginning of each and every copy they distribute for exhibition in theaters, other film festivals, BlueRay, television or VOD (video on demand) platforms, as well as in all printed informative and promotional material (pressbook, posters, etc.). This reference will consist of a text with the selection or award given, accompanied by the corporate image (logo and name) of the festival 9/16 film fest. These will be provided, along with its rules of use, by the organization of the festival.

14. The festival will be held in person in the city of Segovia (Spain) between July 25th and 26th, 2024.

15. Artists over 18 years of age or under 18 years of age, with the authorization of their parents or representative, may register one or more works (up to a maximum of 3) of their authorship or of which they have intellectual property rights.

16. Authors: students and workers in the audiovisual field, as well as the general public who produce audiovisual content and, of course, directors and professionals in the film, communication, television or journalism industry, may actively participate in the festival.

17. It will not be a requirement for the admission of the works, that they are unpublished, being able to have been presented or exhibited in social networks or other national and international festivals.

REGISTRATION:

- Registration to the festival and submission of short films must be done online through festhome: https://festhome.com/es

- The deadlines for registration are as follows: from March 1st to June 25th, 2024.

- The registration fee will be 15€ for each short film submitted, regardless of the category in which it is presented. With the exception of the " Capaces" category, which will be free of charge.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION:

Participants in the festival must provide the following elements for the entry to be valid:

- The corresponding short film, with a maximum of 5 minutes and/or 1 minute in the case of submission to the Videominute category or 40 seconds in the case of advertising spots.

- A 15-second trailer.

- A poster of the short film in A3 format.

- Technical specifications: Title of the short film, year of creation, length, language, country, details of the team that created the short film (name and functions) and of the actors/actresses, photo of the team that created the short film.

- All short films submitted must include subtitles in Spanish, which must be placed in the lower third of the image, in a legible font style and without using all capital letters, and in white with a black line.

The technical requirements for sending copies shall be as follows:

- Container file type: MP4 or MOV Compression: H.264

- Minimum resolution: Full HD 1080 x 1920 px.

- Minimum audio quality: 48kHz - 16 or 24 bits
- Stereo.
Only short films or social media videos, created and edited in portrait orientation (9:16) for vertical screen or mobile projection will be accepted.

When registering the work will be asked for a series of data that will make up the registration form, therefore the participant who makes the online submission does not have to send anything else by mail or mail. SELECTED SHORT FILMS:

- The short films selected to be part of the festival will be communicated by email or phone to those interested, as well as those not selected.

- All short films selected and eligible for awards during the festival will be published in the official channels of the festival: web and social networks.

- The selected films will be included in the Festival Program and will be screened in public sessions during the dates of the Festival. The screening dates will be announced through the Festival Program, website and social networks.

Awards
The winners of each category will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held during the gala of the festival, which will take place on July 26, 2024 in Segovia.


The juries will be made up of professionals from the film and cultural world, and members of the Organization with voice but no vote, and their decision will be final.

The incorporation of any other award that does not appear in these rules will be announced in due time through the Festival's communication channels (Web, press release, social networks, etc.).

If no person from the awarded short film attends to collect the award or does not send a thank you video, the prize money will be forfeited.

Intellectual property and rights of use.

The participants declare that they own the intellectual property rights of the images, sound, music and elements in general used in the short films and will be responsible for any claims of any nature that third parties may make regarding their WORKS and their content. The 9/16 Film Fest is not responsible for the contents of third parties included in the WORKS, understanding that each production has acquired the corresponding permissions.

The AUTHORS and ARTISTS retain their intellectual property rights over the WORKS and/or INTERVENTIONS presented at the festival.

The AUTHORS and ARTISTS, through their registration in the festival, according to the terms and requirements established in these Terms and Conditions, authorize the Organization to exhibit the WORKS during the festival, as well as the use of the work and/or fragments of the same for the promotion and diffusion of the festival on the web, social networks and other communication channels such as television, press, etc.

The AUTHORS and ARTISTS grant the Organization the rights of use, total or partial reproduction, communication and any other use and application given to their works, without prior consultation and without any obligation of compensation.

Likewise, the AUTHORS authorize the partial or complete exhibition of the WORKS prior to the festival, for advertising or voting purposes by the public, within the digital platforms of the festival (RRSS, website and others).

The AUTHORS and ARTISTS also authorize the Organization to use their name, image and work without limitation to be disseminated for advertising, entertainment and/or promotional purposes by all means that the Organization deems appropriate, in public, private and/or virtual spaces, before, during and after the festival, without such use giving them the right to receive any remuneration and without the need for prior consultation.

All participants, by the fact of being participants, fully accept these rules, as well as the resolution by the Organization of any problem not covered by these rules.
