Festival Curta Cinema - Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival - is exclusively dedicated to the promotion and exhibition of short-length audiovisual works. We are a competitive festival that exhibits films produced in digital format with a maximum length of 30 minutes. The programming of Festival Curta Cinema consists on: International and National Competition, Latin American and Rio Panorama, Youngsters Panorama and Special Programs. Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival – Curta Cinema - qualifies the winners of its National and International Grand Prix for an Oscar nomination according to the rules of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Other prizes may also be awarded by sponsors and/or partners who may wish to highlight and promote the work of new filmmakers. The producers of the selected films will be informed in advance for them to accept participating in prize contests which may imply the cession of exhibition or correlated rights.
International Regulations
1. Objective
The objective of the Festival is to promote and stimulate reflection on the short film format, seeking to enhance the exchange between Brazilian and international producers. The Brazilian film programs will show a selection of pieces made between 2021 and 2022 that have not participated in earlier editions of this Festival. The international program will be made up of representative pieces from the same period.

The Festival is organized by FRANCO – Associação Franco Cultural, in partnership with Franco Produções.
3. Period
Festival Curta Cinema 2022 - Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival will take place between December 01st to 5th.

5. Entries
5.a. Entries for Festival Curta Cinema 2022 - Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival are open until September 4th.
5.b. Films should be submitted on the platforms
www.festhome.com.
5.c. External links of films not submitted via Festhome will be accepted only in special cases and with the prior authorization of the direction or programming of the Festival. For inquiries, send email to programa@curtacinema.com.br.
5.d. Films should be no longer than 30 minutes in length.
5.e. The films sent for selection must ensure they have the copyright to the images and the soundtrack contained in the work to be exhibited at the Festival and public non-profit screenings and exempt the organization of Festival Curta Cinema from payment of any copyright when screening.
6. Criteria for selection and dispatch of copies and material for exhibition
6.a. For the International Competition Programs there will be selected a maximum of 400 minutes of films. Other films may comprise the thematic and/or special programs, with the agreement of the filmmaker/producer.
6.b. The list of selected films will be released officially by October 24th.
6.c. The formats for film exhibition will be DCP and/or H264. Other formats may eventually be used and will be analyzed case by case by the Festival producers.
6.d. The copies of the selected films must be sent no later than November 15th. The festival will only receive the copies via online transfer, the sending of physical copies via courier or other similar services must be negotiated in advance with the organization of the festival.
6.e. Other promotional materials, such as posters and flyers, should be received by the Festival organization no later than November 15th.
6.f. A list of dialogs or .srt file in english of the selected film must be sent by November 10th so that electronic subtitles may be produced. We would like to make it clear that pieces that do not submit the dialogs or .srt in english will not be subtitled by the festival, and this may negatively affect the evaluation of the jury and of the audience.
6.g. The films selected must send until November 15th a declaration, according to the template that will be sent by the Festival Organization, proving they have the copyright to the images and the soundtrack being screened during the Festival.
6.h. With the authorization of the entrant, all information from the entry form of selected films, as well as up to 30 seconds of images from the film may be published and exhibited (streaming) on the Festival website on the internet: www.curtacinema.com.br
7. The Jury
The jury will be comprised of professionals from the cinema and culture, invited by the organization of the Festival, and will decide on the prizes listed below. The decision of the jury is supreme and independent.
