24 Risas por Segundo - Festival de Cine y Comedia (9)

The ninth edition of 24 Risas por Segundo, Comedy Film Festival, will be held on May 6 to 11 in Mexico City and that is why we CALL Mexican and foreign filmmakers to register their comedy films (short films and feature films) to be part of our programme.

The films in the Official Selection will participate for theAudience Award 24 Risas por Segundo, which will be voted directly in the theaters and consisting of a trophy and gifts from our sponsors (not cash)

• Any mexican or foreign filmmaker who wishes to participate may do so.

• Films must have been produced between 2023 and 2025.

• The maximum length for short films is 30 minutes, and the minimum length for feature films is 60 minutes.

• For viewing purposes, films must be subtitled in either Spanish or english if they are not spoken in one of these languages, with no exceptions. If the film is selected, a copy with Spanish subtitles must be provided to the festival for exhibition.

• The theme of the films is completely open but must belong to the genre of COMEDY, in any of its variations and subgenres.

• Live action, animation, and documentary films will be accepted.

• Music videos or commercial spots will not be accepted.

• Registration is free for Mexican productions. For foreign productions, the fees are defined on the submission platform.

• Only online submissions will be accepted through the following platform: Festhome .

• The deadline for submission is February 5, 2025.

• Once a film is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the festival.

• The festival's programming team will review all submitted films and select those that will make up the Official Selection (Mexican Feature, Mexican Short Film, and International Short Film).

• The selection of films will be published on April 1, and the selected filmmakers have until April 12 to submit their exhibition copies. Shipping costs will be covered by the participants.

• The only accepted exhibition formats are Blu-ray and DCP.

• All selected works will receive a digital certificate of participation in the festival.

• Films that are part of the Official Selection are eligible for the 24 Risas por Segundo Audience Award, which will be voted on directly in theaters and consists of a trophy and gifts from our sponsors (no cash prize).

• Under no circumstances will screening rights be paid for a film.

• The programming team will decide the dates, times, and screening venues for each film during the festival.

• Selected films may be considered for national and international traveling showcases of the festival.

• The ninth edition of the festival will be held in a 100% in-person format.

• Any situation not covered in this call will be resolved by the festival organization.
