The XXIV edition of Arrigorriaga's humor short film festival, the oldest in Spain.

From December the 14th to the 19th, 2026, in Lonbo Aretoa, Arrigorriaga, Spain.

LANBARRI KULTUR ELKARTEA announces the twenty-third edition of "HUMOR EN CORTO / UMOREA LABUR", Arrigorriaga's short humor film contest, to be held from December 14 to 19, 2026 and will be governed by the following rules:


CONDITIONS

1- The contest will be open to short films belonging to the HUMOR genre. The call for entries is open to any filmmaker, provided this requirement is met. The topic of the short films is free, as well as the technique in which they have been made (real image, animation, computer graphics,...). Short films spoken in a language other than Basque or Spanish must be submitted with subtitles in Spanish or Basque. All short films must include a file with english subtitles.

2- Films shot in any format can be submitted to the Contest, as long as they have a minimum quality and have been produced after January 1st, 2025.

3- The films submitted will compete in the different Official Sections, according to the place of production: KARKAR (Basque), JAJA (national), HAHA (international).

4- The maximum duration of the films in competition will not exceed 25 minutes, credits included.

5- Each author may submit as many short films as he/she wishes.

6- The selected films will be screened from Hard Disk, for which the selected films will be asked to send the short films in files encoded in h.264 and with full HD 1920x1080p resolution. The screening venue will be at the "Lonbo Aretoa" in Arrigorriaga - Bizkaia, at the address C/ Paseo Urgoiti Nº 3.

7- Registration must be made before October 31, 2026.

8- Ways to send the works for its visualization: ONLY online SENDING WILL BE POSSIBLE through the platform: Festhome.

The screening copy will also be sent online, via download file.


9- The organization reserves the right to use the photographs or videos (no more than one minute long) in publicity and diffusion of the Festival, including website and social networks.

(The youth prize will be awarded by the students of the Institute of Arrigorriaga during the sessions that will be offered during school hours).

11- All prizes will be subject to the withholdings established by current regulations.

12- All participants will be notified of the decision of the selection committee.

13- The closing gala will be held at Lonbo Aretoa (Arrigorriaga) on Saturday, December 19, 2026. The festival will facilitate the presence of the winners at the closing gala. In the event that none of the team can attend, the organization reserves the right to reduce the amount of the prize by 20%.

14- The jury, which will be appointed by the organization, will be composed of people related to the world of culture, especially cinema and humor. The jury reserves the right to declare any of the prizes void and its decision will be final.


OTHER DISPOSITIONS:

15- The fact of participating in the contest implies the acceptance of its rules.

16- The registration costs of the film will be paid by the participant.

17- The authors of the works selected for the competition will be invited to present their short film, with q&a afterwards. The festival will provide accommodation for the guests.

18- The persons responsible for the short films participating in the festival must be in possession of all the rights of the works presented.
