MDF is a documentary film and photography festival that aims to show aspects of society that are not broadcast in theaters, the media or the usual audiovisual distribution channels.
It will show national or international cinematographic works and documentary photography reports that have as their theme social or political awareness, environmental protection, journalistic or historical research, show some form of activism in favor of human rights and respect for the environment Or, value positively human relationships and the diversity of cultures.

DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHIC CREATION RESIDENCE

12 documentary shorts will be selected that will be broadcast in Catalan or with subtitles. These will be finalists and will be part of the official film program of the MDF 2022 festival. Four of the finalist documentaries will be selected to be part of the Aula Doc educational project, aimed at schools. Aula Doc proposes a series of activities to work on cross-cutting issues in the documentary genre audiovisual and, specifically, in the short film in question.
In addition, it should be emphasized that there will be a first prize for the best documentary short and up to a maximum of two works will be able to obtain an honorable mention from the jury.
The publication of the finalist works selected for the festival program will be made public on September 10, 2022. While the verdict of the Ullastre Award for Best Documentary Short will be made public during the central days of the festival. The jury will be made up of a team of filmmakers and documentaries, as well as the author of the short winner in the previous edition.
Participation requirements
Producers, directors and distributors from any country can participate, as long as they are the holders of all the rights to the works with which they compete, as well as the images and audios that make them up.
Each participant can submit a maximum of two films that have been made during or after 2020.
The duration must be a maximum of 35 minutes.
Movies can be shot in any language.

They will not be able to have contents that lack in the respect to any person, group, group or organization.

Remuneration
Official selection of finalist films: € 50 per short film for copyright.
Selection for the educational project "Aula Doc": € 80 for a short film on copyright (cumulative to the selection as a finalist).
Best Documentary Short Prize: € 700 for copyright / exhibition (cannot be added to the selection as a finalist). The winner of the prize will be part of the jury of the 5th edition of the Menorca Doc Fest and will be invited to the 2023 festival.
The prize may be forfeited if the jury so decides.
Conditions
All royalties include taxes.
Fees will be charged after the festival and only by invoice.
The organization will send the billing details once the festival is over. All invoices must be submitted by November 1, 2022. Otherwise, the author will be deemed to have rejected this payment.

B. B. BIOSPHERE · Best short documentary for the dissemination of biosphere reserves
CALL
The Biosphere call was created to spread the nature and biodiversity documentary and contribute to the fulfillment of the ODS objectives. 9 short informative documentaries will be selected about territories declared biosphere reserves anywhere in the world or about the people and projects that make it possible. Special attention will be paid to those documentaries that focus on the Mediterranean, as a near and achievable goal.
All the selected documentaries will be part of the official MDF 2022 film program and will be screened, in Catalan or with subtitles, in sessions open to the public between October 20 and October 23, 2022.
The jury will be made up of filmmakers, specialists in documentary film and representatives of civil society. The publication of the works selected for the festival program will be made public on September 5, 2022, while the jury's verdict on the best biosphere reserve outreach short will be made public during the central days of the festival.
Participation requirements

Each participant can present a maximum of two films that have been made during or after 2018.
The duration must be a maximum of 30 minutes.

Retribution

1. Participants

2. Conditions of the works in competition. Best DISSEMINATING short film of territories declared BIOSPHERE RESERVE.
They may not contain content that lacks respect for any person, group, collective or entity.
They cannot induce proselytism, nor a specific political or religious discourse.

The documentaries will be broadcast in Catalan or in Catalan subtitles.
The duration must be a maximum of 18 minutes. (no minimum duration)
Up to a maximum of two works can receive honorable mention from the jury.
The works must have been completed after 2017.
Each participant can submit a maximum of two works.
3. MDF Awards 2022
The jury will be made up of filmmakers and specialists in documentary cinema.
Prize for best short documentary about a biosphere reserve: € 500

4. Requirements for registration

5. Quality of the works
The organization reserves the right to make a selection of works submitted on the basis of technical and creative quality criteria.
6. Jury
The Jury will be made up of professionals from the world of audiovisual, photography and representatives of civil society. Prizes may be declared void if the jury deems it appropriate.
7. Exhibition of the works
The selected works will be screened in sessions open to the public between October 21 and November 1, 2022.
8. Announcement and award ceremony
Sunday, November 24, 2022, in the closing session that will take place in the Sala Albert Camús, Sant Lluís.
9. Responsibility
The people who present the works in this contest are responsible for the possible claims for rights of third parties of the works presented.
10. Right to change bases
The organization reserves the right to change the bases or aspects of exhibition that will be duly informed if there are exceptional circumstances that require it.
