FICGO is an annual cultural event in the Gulf of Morrosquillo, Colombia, that promotes free, outdoor cinema. It offers a diverse program of films, workshops, and environmental activities for various audiences in San Onofre, Tolú, Coveñas, and surrounding towns such as Berrugas and Rincón del Mar.

This year, we will celebrate the sixth edition in November 2026 with spaces that allow us to come together, showcasing emerging local talent and the global audiovisual sector, while highlighting the unique narratives of the Caribbean.

Colombia Regatta:

Trophy for Best National Fiction Short Film.

The statuette is handcrafted in wood using recycled scraps from the sails of boats in the Gulf of Morrosquillo. It is a unique piece of great cultural identity value that is engraved with the name of the winning short film and pays tribute to the sea butterflies and their vibrantly colored sails.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS: GULF OF MORROSQUILLO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (FICGO) 2026

1. COMPETITION CATEGORIES AND SHOWCASES

A. COLOMBIA REGATTA (National Competition)

"Colombian short films" are understood as those that, in accordance with Colombian cinematography legislation, meet the required percentages of national economic, technical, and artistic participation.

Fiction: Productions directed by Colombian filmmakers, completed or premiered after January 1, 2023, may participate. Minimum duration of 7 minutes and maximum of 15 minutes. (4 short films will be selected).

Documentary: Productions directed by Colombian filmmakers, completed or premiered after January 1, 2023, may participate. Minimum duration of 7 minutes and maximum of 15 minutes. (4 short films will be selected).

Animation: Colombian animated productions, completed or premiered after January 1, 2023, may participate. Minimum duration of 7 minutes and maximum of 15 minutes. (4 short films will be selected).

Sucre Short Film / Filminuto (One-Minute Film): Fiction, documentary, or animation productions produced in the department of Sucre, featuring the participation of people from the territory, may be submitted. Minimum duration of 3 minutes and maximum of 20 minutes.

B. INTERNATIONAL REGATTAS (International Competition)

Fiction, Documentary, and Animation categories for short films from any country in the world (outside Colombia). Minimum duration of 7 minutes and maximum of 15 minutes. (4 short films per category will be selected).

C. SHOWCASE - COCO CINEMA (Children's) - Non-competitive
Children-themed fiction, documentary, or animation short films from any country in the world may be submitted. Minimum duration of 5 minutes and maximum of 15 minutes. (10 short films will be selected).

2. awards AND RECOGNITIONS
The Festival will grant the following recognitions to the winning works:

"Colombia Regatta" awards (National and Sucre):

The festival's official statuette will be awarded to the winners of the following categories:

Best National Fiction Short Film.

Best National Documentary Short Film.

Best National Animated Short Film.

Best Sucre Short Film / Filminuto.

This award, which is engraved with the name of the winning short film, pays tribute to the sea butterflies and their vibrantly colored sails.

"International Regattas" awards:

Official recognition will be granted through a document and laurel to:

Best International Fiction Short Film - Digital certificate.

Best International Documentary Short Film - Digital certificate.

Best International Animated Short Film - Digital certificate.

3. GENERAL AND SUBMISSION CONDITIONS

Dates and Platforms: Submission must be made exclusively through the Festhome platform between July 1 and September 1, 2026.

Free Entry: Submission for all sections is 100% free of charge from the opening date until the call closes.

language: All submitted short films, regardless of their country of origin, must be spoken in Spanish, dubbed into Spanish, or lack dialogue (silent).

Exclusivity and Premiere: The work is not required to be a premiere in Colombia. Short films may have had public screenings nationally or internationally, whether at other festivals or through independent distribution. However, short films that have already been screened in previous editions of FICGO will not be accepted.

Submission Limit: The same director, producer, or distribution company may submit more than one short film, provided each work independently meets the requirements of its respective section.

4. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS

Official Selection: The Official Selection will be announced through our social networks and via email at the beginning of October 2026.

Exhibition Copies: Selected short films must send their final exhibition copies strictly complying with the following parameters:

Format: H.264 - MP4, .MOV.

Resolution: Full HD (1920x1080).

Bitrate: 5 Mbps to 10 Mbps.

Maximum file size: 10 GB.

Promotional Materials (Press Kit): Selected works will be asked to send the following information (via form or email through platforms like WeTransfer or Google Drive):

Minimum 5 high-resolution images (stills or photographs) (TIFF or JPG format).

Official poster of the short film in high resolution (TIFF or JPG format).

Official trailer or a representative clip of the work.

5. LEGAL ASPECTS AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES

Organization's Faculties: The FICGO organization reserves the right to review exceptional situations not foreseen in this document and has the authority to directly invite works for the Colombia Regatta, Coco Cinema Showcase, and Sucre Cinema sections as part of its official programming.

Copyright: Whoever submits the work declares and guarantees that they hold all intellectual property, exhibition, and distribution rights over it (including image, music, and script rights). FICGO is exempt from any legal liability, claim, or lawsuit by third parties regarding copyright infringement.

Use of Materials: By participating, those responsible for the works grant FICGO, free of charge, the right to use excerpts from the short film (maximum 10% of its duration) and the provided photographic material, solely and exclusively for the promotion, diffusion, and advertising of the festival in any media.

Acceptance: The mere submission of a work to FICGO implies the reading, understanding, and unconditional acceptance of these terms and conditions in their entirety.
