XII Edition "Carpine Visciano Award"
Short Film Festival - "Break Down Walls: Beyond Marginalization"
6-7-8-9 JULY 2023
The Carpine Visciano Award - Short Film Festival is organized by the Pro Loco Visciano, Radio Carpine Visciano - Piccola Opera della Redenzione, with the co-participation and patronage of the Municipality of Visciano and the Metropolitan City of Naples.
The Little Work of the Redemption, founded in 1943, is made up of two religious congregations: one for men (Missionaries of the Divine Redemption) and the other for women (Little Apostles of the Redemption). It operates in Italy, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, India, San Salvador, East Timor.
Their activity is directed to the physical and spiritual health, to the material and human promotion of the marginalized, poor, disinherited, sick, to whom it seeks to give hope, dignity and the possibility of inclusion in civil society.
The Carpine Visciano Prize was born from a serious and careful reflection on the social problems that are still today considered permanent damage to the entire planet, and which have unleashed in the heart and mind of a VULCANO made man, Father Arturo D'Onofrio, founder of the Piccola Work of Redemption ( whose cause for beatification is underway ) , a commitment to planning and realizing such as to give the fight against these problems a globalizing character that has not stopped at the first obstacles , but has given life to a concrete mission to rediscover and valorise the rich humanity of the street urchin , the tramp , the disabled and the outcast .
The aim of the event is to create awareness of the dimension and recovery of the dignity and identity of social problems, promoting on a national and international basis, the competition of short films with a social theme, which over the course of the editions has had great prominence on the media landscape. The shorts made by Film-makers, voluntary associations, schools and/or students from all over the country but also by directors and actors from the entertainment world, have arrived at our headquarters, each with a different theme: violence against minors and on women, youth problems, the environmental problem, legality, human rights, illegal immigration, drug addiction, cyber-bullying, poverty in all its states and forms. This activity can be structured through a diversified path in its formative and communicative aspects, involving faith, social commitment, the economy, art, journalism, cinematography.
