The Àger International Film Festival (FICdÀ) aims to bring cinema closer to a population that does not have easy access and to become a support space for new film talent.

The festival focuses on short films with a social theme, dealing with issues that add value to society.

Best short film: €500 and trophy

Audience award for best short film: €300 and trophy

Best Director: Trophy

DATES AND LOCATION

The Àger International Film Festival will hold its first edition from July 20 to 23 in Àger (La Noguera), a town in the province of Lleida (Spain). The contest will take place in the historic site of the Collegiate Church of Sant Pere de Àger, built in the XI century.


COMPETITION SECTIONS:

This first edition of the festival will have an Official Competition Short Film Section.

Works of fiction, documentary and/or animation on social issues, of any nationality, that have a minimum duration of 3 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes and have been made after January 1, 2021, may compete.

• The scope of the contest is international.

• Short films produced after 01/01/2021 can participate.

• The theme of the productions must be social.

• Any producer and/or filmmaker can participate, individually or collectively.

• Each participant can present one short film.

• If the original version of the short film is not in Spanish or Catalan, it must have subtitles in one of these two languages, or in english. subtitles need to be sent in an SRT file.

• Works with a maximum duration of 30 minutes can participate.

• The submitted works must have HD, Full HD, 2K or 4K resolution. The minimum resolution is 1920x1080 (1080p)

• Works of an advertising or tourist nature will not be admitted, nor those that use non-original material in more than 10% of the entire work. Works that do not have the necessary technical quality for proper viewing will not be accepted either.


SELECTION:

The communication to each of the short films selected by the Àger International Film Festival will be strictly confidential, between the festival and the producers or legal representatives of the selected work, until the festival decides to announce it publicly.
The films selected for the contest must confirm their participation within 72 hours of notification by the festival.

The producer or legal representative who has confirmed the participation of the work, will be responsible for the communication of the acceptance and participation in the festival, with respect to institutions, sales agents and other professionals who participate in the production or distribution of the short film.
Once the selection of a work is communicated by the festival and its participation confirmed by the production/distribution company that registered it, it cannot be withdrawn.

The directors, producers or legal representatives of the selected short films must previously ensure that the content of their work does not infringe the rights of intellectual property or other rights of third parties, and exempts the Àger International Film Festival from any responsibility.


PROGRAMMING AND EXHIBITION RIGHTS:

The selected short films will be publicly screened during the days of the festival.

During the celebration of this, the organization reserves the right to exhibit the selected short films in the public sessions that it deems appropriate. For this purpose, the producers will cede the right for their public exhibition during the time of the festival, without any cost or payment of exhibition fees.

Some fragments of the selected works may be used, if necessary for the dissemination or promotion of the festival in the media (official trailer).


EXHIBITION AND PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL:

Once the selection of a short film is communicated by the festival and its participation confirmed by the production/distributor company, it is necessary:

Option 1:
Send a downloadable, password-protected streaming link (from Vimeo, YouTube, or Google Drive). It will be necessary to ensure that the files are available until July 23, 2023.

Option 2:
Send the projection copies of the work through a platform enabled by the festival for this use. The companies have seven days (7) to host the film from the first day they receive access to the platform. The files must be sent in digital format (DCP and MOV or MP4 file) with a minimum HD resolution. These files will be destroyed once editing is complete.

It must be borne in mind that the minimum projection resolution accepted is 1920x1080 (1080p) and that in the case of needing subtitles an SRT file must be included.
In both options, in order to carry out the promotion, it is necessary to send electronically to hola@ficda.cat, as soon as possible, the poster of the selected work, the official synopsis, the authors' file and two frames that may be included in the official festival script.

JURY AND awards:

The jury will be made up of leading professionals in the sector and their decisions will be final.

People with interests in the production, distribution or any other type of exploitation or participation with the works selected for the contest cannot be part of the jury.
The prizes may not be declared void and the jury may grant special mentions if it deems it appropriate.

The audience award will be decided by the festival attendees.

• Award for best fiction, animation or documentary short film (500 euros + Trophy)

• Audience Award for Best Fiction, Animation or Documentary Short Film (300 euros + Trophy)

The prizes will be paid by bank transfer in favor of the natural or legal person who made the registration or is directly linked to the registered work in question. The trophies and awards will be delivered at the final gala to the director, producer or representative of each of the awarded short films.

Once the festival communicates that the payment of the prizes will proceed, those interested will have a period of four months to send the pertinent documentation. Once this period has elapsed, they will not be able to claim any amount from the festival.

All prizes will be subject to applicable legal withholdings.


INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:

The participants will maintain their intellectual property right and declare that their work complies with the intellectual property rights of third parties, the festival being exempted from any type of responsibility in case of any breach.

The presentation of a short film to the Àger International Film Festival entails, on the part of the selected participants, the non-privative transfer of the material to the organization for its use in the different activities programmed with the sponsors of the festival.

All documentation received will become part of the festival archive.


ACCEPTANCE OF THE RULES:

The inscription in this festival implies the acceptance of these bases.

Any issue not provided for in the bases will be resolved by the organization of the festival. These bases are subject to modifications and/or annexes.
