The A/r/tographic International Video Narration Exhibition is an annual event organized by the University of Granada, which welcomes all artistic research projects that use audiovisual narration as a methodology for creation, inquiry, and learning in the arts.

The exhibition brings together all kinds of proposals related to a/r/tographic audiovisuals - A/r/tography Films. The aim of this call is to place value on their necessity and convergence in the artistic and educational landscape, as well as to encourage and enhance the creation of networks among researchers, educators, and artists concerned with moving image.

There are no cash prizes

The selected films are screened in the Official Section of the Exhibition and are included in its digital catalogue.

Terms and conditions of the 11th Call of the International A/r/tographic Video Narration Exhibition

Submission of Works

1. This call is open to artists and researchers who work in audiovisual contexts, whether educational, artistic, or research-based. The works must have a clear experimental structure, presenting reflection and exploration on a topic of artistic, social, or educational interest in the field of audiovisual arts. Proposals for independent curatorship with a program not exceeding 20 minutes in duration are also accepted.

2. The submitted works must be original and can have been shown in other exhibitions or festivals.

3. Works may be individual or collective projects, presented by a person or a production team. Submission through distributors or similar companies is not allowed. Works must always be submitted by their authors, and never by others who are only involved in production.

4. All types of audiovisual genres and formats are accepted, as long as their relation or belonging to the concept of A/r/tography Films is justified. Works may include a mention of this category or the A/r/tography Films logo in their credits, which can be downloaded from our website.

5. The educational and disseminative nature of the Exhibition implies public and permanent access to the works. Only works that are hosted on a video platform (YouTube, Vimeo, and others) will be allowed to participate, enabling them to be linked to our website and catalog, so these works can be accessed at any time by other professionals, researchers, and educators. Works that do not comply with this requirement will not be considered in the call.

6. Works produced in a language other than Spanish, which due to their complexity or length require translation, must include Spanish subtitles.

7. The organization of the Exhibition is not responsible for the content of the works or the rights derived from them, which will always be the sole responsibility of the authors.

8. Works must be submitted through our form available on the Exhibition's website in the Call section (https://forms.gle/j2BAP78dgf5nmvWJ7). The organization of the exhibition may promote the call through various competition and festival channels and platforms, but the submission will only be valid if made through our form.

9. The registration form allows for a maximum of one work to be registered, with a maximum of three works per author or authors, provided that consecutive registrations are made through the platform. The submitted works must be related to the philosophy of the exhibition, as indicated in the presentation of these rules.

10. Works submitted for the call will be evaluated by an expert and professional jury, which will select those that, due to their quality and a/r/tographic interest, will be exhibited in the various institutional venues and spaces that participate in the Exhibition. The jury's decision will be made public on the Exhibition's website and on its social media once the submission period has ended.

The deadline for the submission of works is February 10, 2025. The organization of the exhibition will make the list of selected works public before February 20.

11. Once the organization announces the selection of authors for the call, the submission of works will be done through one of the following services: Filemail (https://www.filemail.com) (up to 5GB) or WeTransfer (https://wetransfer.com) (up to 2GB), to the following email: info@videonarracionartografica.es before February 10, 2024. Works submitted after this date will not be accepted. The documentation of those participants not selected will be deleted.

Particular conditions

12. The works selected for the Exhibition may also be subsequently featured in various international curatorial projects organized in collaboration with related organizations and entities. Authors accept this condition when participating in the exhibition.

13. The organization commits to inform and provide participation certificates to the participants, as well as to manage any resulting selections in possible curatorial events with collaborating organizations.

Dissemination and Promotion

14. The organization will edit a digital catalog in PDF format, which will be available to participants and interested parties for free on the exhibition’s website. Additionally, there is an option to purchase a printed version through the publishing platform Blurb (https://www.blurb.es). This printed version is a commercial edition, with ISBN, and is available on demand for those interested. Shipments are subject to duties if the delivery country is not within the European Union. Orders through this editorial service include the corresponding taxes and shipping costs to the recipient. To encourage more affordable purchases, the organization of the exhibition will announce discount codes that Blurb periodically offers to its customers. During the days leading up to the opening of the exhibition, we will publish the link to request the printed version of the catalog, which will always be available in the 'PUBLICATIONS' section of our website alongside the downloadable PDF version. This on-demand editorial service is managed by the international company Blurb, Inc., which is responsible for the management and printing of orders, as well as for shipping copies through an international transportation agency. The management and responsibility for this entire process lies exclusively with Blurb; neither the organization of the Exhibition nor the collaborating entity Vera Icono Producciones shall be responsible for any issues or delays that may arise with the orders.

15. In order to ensure the promotion of the event, the organization generates various content on social networks (mainly Facebook and Instagram) during the exhibition and throughout the year. This includes, among others, the Official Program of the Exhibition, images from the event, and documentation of the participating works. The request for tagging or distribution will depend directly on the users.

16. In order to delve into those works and audiovisual projects that constitute and construct the a/r/tographic audiovisual, the organization of the Exhibition will select some of the works chosen in this call to be included, via reference and link to the work, in the online repository A/R/TOGRAPHY FILMS, dedicated to consultation by artists, researchers, educators, and interested parties. Our goal is to disseminate these creations for educational and scientific purposes. This archive will include the work's details, authorship, technical sheet, a reference image (frame), and the link to the platform where the work is hosted, as provided in the registration form. Only those works selected in the call that are deemed to be of interest to the organization due to their quality and a/r/tographic methodological application will be included in this repository.

Agreement and acceptance of the call

17. Participation in the call implies acceptance of these Terms and conditions.
