REGULATIONS

VIII Curta Lages – International Film Festival

The VIII Curta Lages International Film Festival presents a broad, diverse and truly international programme, featuring both competitive and non-competitive screenings of short- and feature-length films in all formats and genres.

All editions of Curta Lages have been held with the support of the Coletivo Audiovisual Lageano (CAL) – a group founded in 2014 to foster audiovisual production in the Serra Catarinense region. Comprised of artists, cultural producers and local professionals, CAL works to promote the appreciation, encouragement and democratisation of audiovisual arts.

1. Registration conditions
1.1 Period and location
The VIII Curta Lages International Film Festival will take place 25 – 31 August 2025 in Lages, SC, Brazil, with both in-person and online screenings.

1.2 Type of festival
The festival is competitive and informative, and also hosts non-competitive showcases.

1.3 Registration and works
Period: 1 June – 1 July 2025, via the online form on the official website or the Festhome platform.

Eligibility: Individuals or legal entities holding directorial and/or production roles in the submitted work.

Production date: Films released from 2024 onwards are eligible. Films from Santa Catarina have no restrictions on completion or release date, nor on running time.

Fees: Registration is free of charge.

Submission medium: Online only; physical media or other virtual channels will be accepted only with prior curatorial authorisation.

Copyright: Applicants must hold all image and soundtrack rights, indemnifying the festival against any claims.

Running time:

Short film: up to 15 minutes

Feature film: over 70 minutes
(No time limit for Santa Catarina works.)

Genres: fiction, documentary, animation, experimental, hybrid (doc & fic), collective creation, and children’s/youth.

Accessibility: Preference for works featuring LIBRAS, descriptive subtitles or audio description.

Subtitles: Films in languages other than Portuguese must include Portuguese-BR subtitles (SRT file).

Screening files (if selected): Upload via Google Drive, Dropbox or Festhome in high-quality MP4/H.264 or ProRes, password-protected if required. Notify the festival of any password changes.

Public screenings: Selected works will screen publicly and free of charge on festival dates. Participants grant permission for these screenings, for printed promotional materials, and for the use of short excerpts in festival publicity.

Screening fees: No screening fees will be paid.

Withdrawal: Films cannot be withdrawn once selected.

Curatorial rights:

The curators may refuse any entry.

Programming may disqualify approved films that fail to complete subsequent steps.

Acceptance of rules: Submission implies full acceptance of these regulations and cession of screening rights.

Final decision: All curatorial decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

Note: There are no physical trophies; winners receive virtual laurels only.

3. Final provisions
Registration on this form constitutes prior knowledge and full acceptance of the terms and clauses herein.
