Festival start: 10 May 2023      Festival end: 14 May 2023

The Addis International Film Festival is an annual event organized by Initiative Africa. It is a unique initiative seeking to use the power of documentaries and short films to support innovative ways of creating awareness of social issues. Every year AIFF showcases films made by a diverse group of both seasoned and emerging filmmakers who have documented information essential for analyzing issues that affect society.

Welcome to the 17th annual Addis International Film Festival (AIFF). For the last sixteen years, AIFF has provided new and experienced filmmakers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their work, interact with other aspiring filmmakers, and network among industry professionals. After last year's success, the 16th Edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from May 10 - May 14, 2023.

This year IA organizes the 17th edition of the Addis International Film festival, with the focus on:

1. Action for Peace, Security, and Reconciliation
2. Gender Equality and Inclusivity
3. Food and Environmental Security
4. Health Care

AIFF is now accepting film submissions until March 1, 2023.

REQUIREMENTS:

•Only films completed after January 2020 are eligible to apply.

•AIFF accepts shorts (under 30min) and Feature length films (over 50min).

•Genres shown at AIFF include Documentary, animation, experimental and narrative.

•Films made in languages other than English should have subtitles in English.

•No film selected may be withdrawn from the festival program after its publication.

•AIFF no longer accepts DVD submissions. All films must be submitted digitally via the online submission form located at www.addisfilmfestival.org

The list of selected films will be published on the festival website (www.addisfilmfestival.org) and unless otherwise requested, all information contained on the entry form will be made public on the official festival website: www.addisfilmfestival.org

Once a film has been selected it cannot be withdrawn from the festival program during the event.

During the entire duration of the festival none of the films invited may be shown outside the festival's official theaters before its official screening.

Submission of films to the AIFF indicates acceptance of the festival rules, regulations, and submission guidelines.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2023 Addis International Film Festival with films, music and lots of networking!
