Duemila30 is the biggest international gathering on social impact storytelling for emerging international filmmakers. Each year, over 100 young talents from all over the world meet for four days of screenings, workshops and meet-ups in Milan (Italy).

Duemila30 is much more than a film festival; conceived as a platform for the advancement of social impact storytelling, Duemila30 is permeated by a unique atmosphere, made of young filmmakers from all over the world, international movie industry professionals, social and environmental activists and the young and passionate staff.

In addition, by joining Duemila30 Festival in Milan from the 27th to the 30th of June 2024 you will forever become part of our community and have access to:

More details on the programme are coming out soon, in the meanwhile we can already tell you that:

You will live an extremely intense four days surrounded by young filmmakers from all over the world (50 different countries attended last year);
you will have the chance to personally interact and work with international professionals and experts of the movie industry;

All participant’s short films will be screened in dedicated feedback sessions;

You’ll exchange ideas with activists and learn from their experience how to better tell social impact stories.

During Duemila30 Festival the Best Short Award will be announced.
Furthermore, by joining, you will have access to:
the chance to win a small production budget to work on a new production with other talented filmmakers from our community;
the possibility of having your short film distributed at other festivals and on online streaming platforms through our programme Duemila30 Stories;
the opportunity of joining our 10-day artistic residency training programme Duemila30 Lab.

All the shorts films must be student-directed films.

Submissions open on 1th of December 2024 and will remain open until 30st* April 2024.

There is no participation fee: the contest is entirely free.

All the shorts films must either be in English, or submitted with English subtitles. Any non-English language short films with dialogue which have been submitted without English subtitles will not be considered.

All short films must have been completed no earlier than January 2023.

We will not accept more than two short films from one entrant per year.

Please note that if the short film is nominated it is expected that a member of the team attend the Awards Ceremony on the 20th of July* 2024.

*The date could be subject of any arbitrary change.

All the shorts films must take inspiration from the 17 Goals for Sustainable Development of the 2030 UN Agenda. The shorts films must have deal with a clear humanitarian subject matter, which can range from the local to the global and from the social to the environmental. The short film should critically engage audiences, raise awareness about an issue and allow viewers to reflect on the importance and social impact of the topic that is presented, serving either as a call for change or a way of highlighting the details of a current problem.

CLAUSES
In no event will the festival, its members, event partners or its officers, directors, employees, be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages arising during the festival.

You accept responsibility for obtaining any and all clearances necessary to exhibit your film at the festival, warrant that you have the rights necessary to exhibit your film at the festival, indemnify and hold harmless Duemila30 Festival and its affiliates against any claim arising out of submission and/or exhibition of your film at Duemila30 Festival.

You agree to participate in related publicity and to the use of your name and participation images for the purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity for the festival.
