MI PRIMER FESTIVAL (MY FIRST FESTIVAL) - International film festival for children, Barcelona & Madrid - 17th edition: from November 9 to 23, 2025.

"Mi Primer Festival" is an International film festival for children from 2 to 12 years. My First Film Festival features over 100 films in a total of 21 screenings. In short, MPF is a film extravaganza that showcases both different techniques and formats and the creativity of artists from all around the world.

The international competition of SHORT FILMS for children will include 4 programmes:

- International Short Competition for children over 2 years old

- International Short Competition for children over 4 years old

- International Short Competition for children over 7 years old

- International Short Competition for children over 10 years old

The international competition of FEATURE FILMS will include one programme of films, with a maximum of 10 titles.

The festival will take place in November simultaneously in Barcelona and Madrid and is a great opportunity for boys and girls from 2 to 12 years old to discover unique and unprecedented cinema.

The festival also programs films that have not been created specifically for children, which is why it encourages film directors as well as distributors to present their works even if they have not been conceived for this audience profile. Younger viewers rise to the challenge, and the introductions and discussions that accompany viewings provide a good context for understanding and enjoying the films.

4) Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 2 to 4 – 300 €

5) Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 4 to 7 – 300 €

6) Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 7 to 10 – 300 €

7) Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 10 to 12 – 300 €

8) Jury Award to the best Long Feature Film – 6000 €

9) Public Award to the best Long Feature Film – 1500 €

SHORTS MOVIES:

I. Mi Primer Festival is an International film festival for children organized by Asociación Cultural MODIband, registered in C/ Camps i Fabrés, 3-11, 2ª, 8ª, 08006, Barcelona, with VAT number G-62694013.

II. Mi Primer Festival’s 18th edition will take place in Barcelona from the 9th to the 23rd of November 2025.

III. The international competition of short films for children will include 4 programmes:

i. International Competition for children over 2 years old
ii. International Competition for children over 4 years old
iii. International Competition for children over 7 years old
iii. International Competition for children over 10 years old

IV. Only works released as from 2023 will be accepted.

V. The works shall be animation or feature short films or parts of a series that can be judged separately with a duration of up to 15 minutes.

VI. The following formats will be accepted for competition: DCP, HD files o Blu-rays.

VII. Priority will be given to films without dialogues or that have short voice overs. If there are dialogues in languages that are not English, French, Spanish or Catalan, participants will send the text translated into English. It will be the organizer’s responsibility to subtitle or dub the film.

VIII. All participants may submit their work through Festhome, providing 2 stills of the film with a minimum resolution of 1500 pixels (9cm - 300 dpi), together with a screener of the work, through an online screening system (like Vimeo). We do NOT accept links to download films screeners from FTP servers or downloading websites.

IX. Copies of the works must be delivered by 31st of May 2025. All selected works will receive a notification before the first week of September 2025. The final decision taken by the jury concerning the winning works will be communicated in December 2025.

X. Copies to be used for the screenings at the festival have to be sent for screening in the best quality format available, through an online downloading system. Preferably, the film should have a minimum resolution in HD of 1920 x 1080 pixels, in a progressive (not interlaced) format.

XI. Screening copies should be sent by 20th of September 2025 preferably through an online download system, or to the following address:

XII. Expenses related to the transport of the films and promotional materials from the country of origin to Barcelona, Spain, will be covered by the participant. Expenses relating to the transport to the country of origin, if required, are covered by the organizer.

XIII. Competing films will be judged by the following juries:

a. Joint official jury of 3-4 professionals specialised in cinema and 3-4 children.
b. The public, formed by the spectators of the festival.

XIV. Festival awards for competing films will be the following:

a. Jury’s award to the best short film for children aged 4 to 7 – 500 €
b. Jury’s award to the best short film for children aged 7 to 10 – 500 €
c. Jury’s award to the best short film for children aged 10 to 12 – 500 €
d. Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 2 to 4 – 300 €
e. Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 4 to 7 – 300 €
f. Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 7 to 10 – 300 €
g. Public’s award to the best short film for children aged 10 to 12 – 300 €

XV. The same short may receive a double award: the jury’s and the public’s.

XVI. The movies participation in the different short film competition sections implies their exhibition in the different venues of the festival, including the competitive section screening in other towns, between November 2025 and July 2026, in non-commercial circuits such as public libraries, cinema clubs or civic centres.

XVII. The applicant gives consent to the use of parts of the competing films as part of the festival’s promotion in all its media.

XVIII. By submitting an application to the festival, participants express their consent with the festival rules.

XIX. Mi Primer Festival has received the Quality Certificate of the AIC (Spanish Association for the Short Movies Industry).
