OZ ZINEMA ELKARTEA, in collaboration with the City Council of Errenteria, announces the 4th ERRENTERIA DOCUMENTARY FILM AND HUMAN RIGHTS FESTIVAL, in order to promote and develop the audiovisual arts through visualization and the defense of human rights.

The jury will grant the following awards:
Grand Prize – Juanmi Gutiérrez Laboratory
This consists of a technical and artistic advisory process for the direction team of the winning film, aimed at developing their next audiovisual project. The goal is to prepare the new work for financing and distribution processes. The mentoring will be carried out by established professionals from the regional film industry, either in-person and/or online.
Special Mention – Industry Award for Distribution on FESTHOME
An annual voucher for one film, allowing unlimited submissions to festivals available on the FESTHOME platform (note: this does not cover individual entry fees charged by some festivals).
Audience Award “Ion Arretxe”
Audience award for the best short or medium-length film, with a cash prize of €250.
Audience Award for Best Feature Film
A separate €250 cash prize will be awarded to the best feature film, outside the scope of these rules and the competition.
Audience members will vote after each screening using a 0–10 scoring system. The average score of each film will be weighted based on the number of attendees per screening. The film with the highest weighted score will receive the award.
Awards May Be Declared Void
The jury reserves the right to declare one or more awards void if, in its opinion, the submitted works do not meet the required artistic or technical standards.
1. Call for Entries
Oz Zinema Elkartea, in collaboration with the Errenteria City Council, announces the 4th Errenteria Documentary Film and Human Rights Festival, with the aim of promoting and supporting audiovisual arts as a tool for the visibility and defense of Human Rights.
2. Eligibility
This call is open to any natural person over the age of 18. For the purposes of these rules, the author is considered to be the individual credited as the director of the film.
3. Originality and Production Date
Submitted works must be original and completed after January 1, 2024.
4. Theme and Genre
The subject of the films must focus on the defense of Human Rights or the denunciation of their violation. Only works in the documentary genre will be accepted.
5. Language
Films may be submitted in any language. If the film is in a language other than Basque or Spanish, it must include subtitles in either of these two languages.
6. Duration
Short and medium-length films up to 60 minutes in length are eligible for competition.
7. Excluded Content
Films that contain content, language, images or messages that may be considered discriminatory based on gender, race, sexual orientation, religion or ideology, that incite hatred, are offensive, or violate the rights of third parties, will be automatically disqualified.
8. Submission Period
The submission period will be open from August 1 to September 30, 2025, until 11:59 p.m. (local time).
9. Submission Platform
Submissions must be made exclusively through the FESTHOME platform.
10. Selection of Works
A selection committee appointed by the organization will evaluate all submitted works and determine those that will proceed to the competition phase. The decision will be communicated to applicants via email.
11. Screening Copies
Selected works must provide a screening copy in a format of sufficient quality. If the film does not have a DCP, the festival will assume the conversion to this format for public exhibition. The resulting DCP will be delivered to the creators of the film at no cost, as part of the benefits of official selection. Any other expenses related to preparation or delivery of materials shall be borne by the participant.
12. Jury
The jury will consist of four voting members:
- Two professionals from the audiovisual sector.
- Two specialists in the field of Human Rights.
Additionally, a non-voting secretary will be appointed:
- A civil servant from the Department of Cultural Diversity, Human Rights and Development Cooperation of the Errenteria City Council.
The names of the jury members will be published on the festival’s official website (www.ggeefilm.com) prior to the start of the festival.
13. Awards
The jury will grant the following awards:

15. Taxation
All monetary awards are subject to the legally established tax withholdings and obligations.
16. Festival Dates
The 4th Errenteria Documentary Film and Human Rights Festival will take place from December 9 to 12, 2025. The awards ceremony will be held on December 14, 2025.
17. Award Renunciation
Award winners may formally renounce the prize awarded. Such renunciation shall not entitle them to any compensation or to the substitution of the prize with an alternative.
18. Attendance at the Awards Ceremony
In order to receive the prize, attendance at the awards ceremony is required, either in person or through a duly accredited representative.
19. Archiving and Non-Commercial Use
Oz Zinema Elkartea reserves the right to keep a copy of the awarded films for archival purposes, institutional promotion, non-commercial screenings or cultural activities related to the festival. The author will be informed in advance in all cases.
20. Promotion and Outreach
Participants authorize the festival organizers to use excerpts from the selected films, as well as images and photographs of the films and their directors, for promotional purposes in media, social networks, graphic materials, or festival catalogs.
21. Public Screenings
Selected films will be publicly screened during open sessions organized as part of the festival.
22. Acceptance of the Rules
Participation in this competition implies full acceptance of these rules. Any matters not covered herein will be resolved by the organizing committee, which reserves the right to interpret the content and take the necessary measures for its implementation.
