Cine Curtas Lapa is an independent, non-profit festival with free entry. The Festival aims to show films that were made or have as their theme the city of Rio de Janeiro in order to promote the Brazilian audiovisual industry, especially short films from Rio in the city's most traditional nightlife neighborhood. The idea is to bring a program of fiction, animation and documentary shorts to the public of Lapa, enriching the cultural life of the bohemian neighborhood.

There will be popular and professional jury voting for short films. The winner of each category will receive a certificate and the festival trophy.

Regulations for Cine Curtas Lapa 2025 - 9th Edition
1. Registration
• Registration Period: August 20 to September 17, 2024 (business hours).
• Late Registration: Will not be accepted.
• How to Register: Participants must send the registration form available at Cine Curtas Lapa via email.
2. Films and Media
• Format: Films must be produced in H.264.
• Submission: Films can be sent via FTP or through Festhome. Other forms of submission should be discussed with the festival production team.
• Accepted Categories:
o Short films (Fiction, Animation, Documentary, Experimental) with a duration of up to 15 minutes.
o Invited films can be up to 25 minutes.
• Conditions: The media sent for pre-selection will be the same as that used if the film is selected. Unfinished films or provisional copies will not be accepted.

4. Short Film Selection
• Selection Criteria: Short films filmed in the city of Rio de Janeiro or that have the city as their theme, including Brazilian and foreign films, documentaries, animations and experimental films.
• Media: Will not be returned to participants and will remain in the festival collection.
• subtitles: Foreign films must have subtitles in Portuguese.
• Year of Production: Only films produced from 2021 onwards will be accepted.
4.1 “Cine Curtas Lapa Session” Program
• Selected and awarded films will be part of the Festival Collection and will be shown in future programs.
5. Results
• Announcement: The selection results will be available on the festival's website and social media channels starting on January 29, 2025.
6. Festival Period
• Dates: The festival will take place from February 4 to 9, 2025. The full schedule will be announced on the official platforms.
7. Award-Winning Categories
• Popular Jury: Includes several exhibitions, such as Madame Satã, Arcos da Lapa, Lapa Boemia, among others.
• Professional Jury: awards for Best Screenplay, Photography, Editing, Direction, among others, in addition to honorable mentions.
8. Medium- and Feature-length Screenings
• Medium- and feature-length films about Rio de Janeiro may be shown outside of the competition.
9. Authorization for Exhibition and Disclosure
• The participant authorizes the screening of the selected film and excerpts of up to 1 minute for promotional purposes.
9.1 Screening on YouTube
• Films will be screened on the Festival Channel during the event and will remain available for 90 days.
