The International Festival of cinema of Hermosillo was born in 2012 founded by a group of young entrepreneurs with a passion for cinema and with the desire to recognize those who share and live this passion through his films, thanks to the efforts of a nonprofit association and with the objective of recognizing the effort and talent of filmmakers around the worldproviding a source of culture and tourism that drives the development of talent and love for the cinema to the State and society.
AWARDS. The Festival's jury will be in charge of electing the winning films. The jury will award one of the films from each of the following categories MEXICAN FICTION FEATURE FILM AND "NEW VISIONS" FICTION FEATURE FILM with a distribution contract for movie theaters given by CINEMEX. The decision of the jury will be unappealable.

HERMOSILLO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, EIGTH EDITION
CALL FOR ENTRIES: SHORTFILMS AND FEATURE FILMS
1. HERMOSILLO'S INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL objective is to offer an exhibition space for mexican and international cinema, and gather creators to make a community.
2. COMPETITION CATEGORIES
a. SHORTFILMS (maximum length 30 min. including credits) with a cinema format, digital or video, the ending of production date must be later than January 1st of 2019. The following categories are invited to participate: ANIMATED SHORTFILMS, INTERNATIONAL SHORTFILMS, MEXICAN SHORTFILMS, NORTHERN SHORTFILMS (Made on the states of Sonora, Sinaloa, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León or Tamaulipas).
b. FEATURE FILMS (minimun length 60 min.)ith a cinema format, digital or video, the ending of production date must be later than January 1st of 2019. The films must not have been distributed in any movie theaters. The following categories are invited to participate: MEXICAN FICTION FEATURE FILMS AND "NEW VISIONS" FICTION FEATURE FILMS (Mexican debut feature films, made exclusively with independent resources).
3. CONDITIONS
a. To be considered, the films must register through FestHome.com. Your inscription must be accompanied with screeners and data sheet of the film.
b. Videoclips, advertisement projects or films with political propaganda will not be accepted.
c. To be accepted, the films must be made in spanish language, in case of foreign language films you must send the film with spanish subtitles.
d. The date line for entries is December 15 of 2020.
e. The selected films are eligible to be part of special features of the Festival.
f. Exhibition fees will not be paid or accepted on any film.
g. Only films that have not been previously screened in the State of Sonora will be eligible to participate.
4. SELECTION AND JURY. The film selection will be exclusive responsibility of the programing crew and members of the jury. The selection deliberation will be unappealable. The results of this selection will be published on the Festival's website www.fich.mx and its social media.
5.- EXHIBITION. The date and schedule of the selected films exhibition will be decided by the Festival.
6.- awards. The Festival's jury will be in charge of electing the winning films. We are looking for fiction feature films and short films with the best performances. We will award the finest acting performances.
The Hermosillo International Film Festival opens its eighth call for entries, with submissions accepted from May 25 to August 30, 2026. Filmmakers and audiovisual creators from Mexico and around the world are invited to participate in the festival’s eighth edition, which will take place in Hermosillo, Sonora, from November 25 to 29, 2026.
The rules for participation are as follows:
All filmmakers with a work spoken in Spanish or subtitled in Spanish may participate.
There is no limit to the number of works each participant may submit.
If your film contains dialogue in languages other than Spanish, it must include Spanish subtitles.
The categories open for participation in this edition are:
Short Films
Fiction Short Film
Short films entered in this section must have been completed between January 2024 and November 2026. Running time must be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.
NOTE: Only short films that have not previously been screened in the State of Sonora may participate.
“Made in Sonora” Fiction Short Film
Short films entered in this section must have been produced between January 2024 and November 2026 in the State of Sonora, Mexico, or directed by a filmmaker born in the state.
Running time must be a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 30 minutes.
NOTE: Only short films that have not previously been screened in the State of Sonora may participate.
Feature Films
Mexican Fiction Feature Film
Feature films entered in this section must have been completed between January 2024 and November 2026 and must be Mexican productions.
The minimum running time is 60 minutes.
These feature films must have been produced with 100% independent financing and may not have received government funding.
NOTE: Only feature films that have not previously been screened in the State of Sonora may participate.
Theme
The subject matter is open in all categories.
Film Submission and Delivery
Feature films may be submitted online through Festhome.

Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
