A celebration of talent and the future of cinema in the heart of Barcelona.

The heart of Barcelona as a stage and platform for cinematic talent. La Rambla in Barcelona is much more than an emblematic avenue. It is a living symbol of the city, an open walkway to the world where cultures, languages, artistic expressions, and emotions converge. But beyond its touristic role, La Rambla also becomes a great showcase of Barcelona’s identity and a privileged path to project local cinematic talent on an international scale.

Art. 1. SECTIONS


1.a. There are five COMPETITIVE SECTIONS in the Festival:


-OFFICIAL SECTION ÒPERA PRIMA for feature films.

International competition for first and second films

-OFFICIAL SECTION for Short films
International competition.

-INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS
Short films from International film schools in competition-

-THE PANORAMA SECTION
Experimental films.

-16-24-35 SECTION
Productions about cinema, meta-cinema and documentaries about cinema. There are two competitive sub-sections: Feature films and Short films.

-CHILDREN'S FILMS
Shorts and features films for children. Animation and fiction.

1.b. Both fiction, animation and non-fiction films can take part in all the competitive sections.

1.c. For all the sections, films lasting over 50 minutes are considered feature films, and those lasting 40 minutes or less are considered short films.

1.d. The OFFICIAL SECTION ÒPERA PRIMA section aims to discover new International authors Short works may be included and will be evaluated in equal condition to feature films

1.e. The PANORAMA section is the “experimental” section of the competition, devoted to films that explore concept and form. It aims to prioritizefeature films, but shorter works may also be included and will be evaluated in equal conditions.


Art. 2. OFFICIAL SECTIONS (features and short films)


2.a. Only films from the current season 2024-2025 will be admitted.

2.b. NATIONAL PREMIERE commitment: the eligible feature and short films CANNOT have been screened in Spain before, or have taken part in any other Spanish festival, either in competitive or non-competitive sections. Nor will they have been previously exhibited in Spain in commercial or non-commercial movie theaters, television broadcasts or digital platforms aired in Spanish territory.

2.c. The selected films will be screened in their original version, with subtitles in Spanish and english, except when one of those languages is the film's own. The copies submitted must, therefore, have the subtitles included in either one of these languages. If necessary, the Festival will add the subtitles in the second language (in Spanish when the copy has english subtitles, and vice versa).

2.d. The copy submitted to the Festival must be in D.C.P. format (Digital Cinema Package).

2.e. In the event of winning the award, participating films must be available for a special screening outside of the official programme before the Festival ends.

The prizes have no financial allocation.


Art. 4. COMMITMENT TO MENTION THE FESTIVAL
The films chosen for any of the competitive sections must include the Festival logo and mention of the section and edition for which they were selected in their publicity and advertising, as well as in the initial credits of all the copies released in Spain for theatrical exhibition after the competition, as well as home formats (DVD, BluRay, and/or VOD platforms). Furthermore, the award-winning films must include these mentions PLUS the mention of the award obtained on all copies, included those distributed outside Spain. This applies to all the awards.


Art. 5. PROCEDURE FOR SELECTED FILMS AND PROMOTION


10.a. Once the Festival has confirmed the selection of a film for an award category:

▪ The information needed for screenings, press releases, festival catalogue and official website must be sent immediately (film data sheet including synopsis and, director’s filmography and photos and stills from the film and the direcctor).

▪ All the promotional material required by the Festival departments must be sent promptly by the film representatives.

▪ Sending material implies acceptance of its use in all media and communications from the Festival and the collaborating entities that are considered necessary to promote the works and the contest.

▪ The film representative will be responsible for dispatching the screening copy in coordination with the prints traffic department: laramblafilmfestprogramacion@gmail.com

▪ The Festival must receive the copy of the film at least 30 days before the starting date of the competition with a link. For the 2026 edition before 01-12-2025.


▪ The Festival may broadcast the short films non-commercially during the festival dates and for the following fifteen days on local/regional television in Barcelona for promotional purposes and the trailer/teaser/clip for features films.

▪ The Festival may use the images provided by the producer to the registration platforms solely for promotional purposes of the festival and the productions submitted.


Art. 11. PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION
According to Spanish Law 34/2002, of July 11, on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSICE, in Spanish) and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, the personal data sent to the Festival are included in the “Clients” processing activity, for which LA RAMBLA FILM FESTIVAL. is responsible, whose purpose is the management administrative of the contracted or interested services, purpose based on legitimate and contractual interest and your request to participate in it. Personal data will be kept indefinitely as long as its deletion is not requested. Participants in the contest may exercise their rights of access, rectification, deletion and portability of their data, limitation and opposition to its processing, as well as not to be subject to decisions based solely on the automated processing of their data, when appropriate, before laramblafilmfest@gmail.com


Art. 12 ACCEPTANCE OF RULES
Taking part in the competition means full acceptance of these Rules. Interpretation of the Rules pertains to the Festival organization. In the event of a dispute, the matter will be subject to Spanish legislation and jurisdiction
