The Shortfilm Festival "San Rafael in short" aims dissemination, disclosure and the screening of cinematographic works as well as the knowledge of these by the audience. The works presented not opt to a prize or award, only the assessment of the audience.
The Gran Angular Canarian cultural association organizes the 20th edition of the "San Rafael en corto Short Film Festival", a space for the dissemination of Canarian cinematography and support for new and not so new directors from the Canary Islands, where creativity and love for culture are encouraged.
SREC is an annual meeting between creators, professionals and the public to whom they scheduled films are directed.
The 20th edition of SREC will take place from November 2nd through 8th, 2024.
1. The short film exhibition "San Rafael en corto" consists of two sections:
CANARIAN COMPETITIVE SECTION
This competitive section admits only short films made by female directors-es residing in the Canary Islands or by female directors-canarians who do not reside in the Canary Islands.
INTERNATIONAL NON-COMPETITIVE SECTION
The non-competitive international section admits works by filmmakers from all over the world. The short films that are registered in a language other than Spanish must be presented with subtitles in Spanish embedded in the copy.
All the short films that are registered in the call for the 120th edition of SREC will first be reviewed, to see if they meet the requirements established in the bases.
The SREC organization will confirm the selection of the short films registered to the participants of the Canarian Competitive Section and the International Non-Competitive Section. In the same way, the direction of SREC will establish the order and the exhibition dates of the selected short films.
2. The motto chosen by the organization for this 20th edition is CINEMA and CLIMATE CHANGE.
3. This exhibition will be held at the Víctor Jara municipal theater in Vecindario (Gran Canaria)
4. The works that are presented are not eligible for any prize or award, only for the evaluation of the attending public.
5. The registration deadline will be 23:59:59 on July 15, 2024. Any person wishing to exhibit their own cinematographic work may apply to the 20th SREC.
6. Each participant may register a single work in the formats indicated within the required period. The works must be sent in original version. Mandatory subtitles in Spanish for versions in other languages. (subtitles must be embedded in the copy)

7. The duration of each short film may not be less than 30 seconds or more than 6 minutes, credits included (we will be rigorous with this point).
8. Participants in the 120th edition of "San Rafael en Corto" must complete and send the "online registration form" that appears in point 13 of these rules before sending the work or entering our website www.granagularcanarias .com and in the form tab.
The works received that do not have the official online registration made at the end of the registration period, will be excluded as registered for the 19th edition of SREC.
9. The works may be presented, with a deadline until 23:59:59 on the day
July 15th, 2024, prior online registration, through the following digital platform: www.festhome.com
10. The selection of the work will be strictly confidential between SREC and the producers or representatives of the selected film, until the Festival decides to officially announce it.
11. Once the organization communicates the selection of a title within the programming of this edition, the director, producer or person responsible for registration must proceed as follows and send the following materials to the email contacto@granangularcanarias.com:
* Copy of projection through download link in format of
digital projection. We accept only the following formats:
.MP4 / MPEG H264 Full HD resolution (1920x1080) and 48 khz audio.
.MOV / MP4 Apple Proress 422 Full HD (1920x1080) resolution and 48 khz audio.
The organization will be very rigorous not admitting any other format of presentation of the works with the aim of guaranteeing a good quality in the projections.
* Poster and trailer of the work (if available) for dissemination and/or advertising use of the sample.
12. The theme of the work to be presented will be free, but the short films that wish to be part of the prize list of this 20th edition, for having been selected as a result of the voting of the attending public, will necessarily have to have a theme related to the chosen motto by the organization for this edition.
Works with violent content that may hurt sensitivity will not be accepted of the public.
13. The Canarian Cultural Association "Gran Angular", as organizer of the short film exhibition "San Rafael en Corto", reserves the right to dispense with those works that it considers do not comply with the exposed bases, do not present a minimum of quality (we will be rigorous with those that do not respect the format of sending the works or exceed the time established).

17. The participants in the short film exhibition "San Rafael en corto" may or may not accept that their short film, if selected and forms part of the public list of awards, can be broadcast on television, according to the agreements derived with the different television channels, to those that could be reached for the promotion of this nineteenth sample. In this case, the short film will be broadcast with its corresponding title and credits.
This point must be specified by activating or deactivating the box located in the online registration form.
16. The participants of the short films that have been chosen as a result of the voting of the attending public and become part of the list of winners of the public of said edition, will agree to assign the projection rights of their work with the aim of promoting and disseminating the list of winners. wherever Wide Angle can display it.
17. When registering a work, whoever registers (director, producer, person responsible for registration...) irrevocably accepts the rules required by the Festival management in the participation bases. And you will not be able to remove your selected work from the programming in any case by the Selection Committee. Their interpretation will be the responsibility of the SREC organization.
18. Gran Angular, organizer of the San Rafael en Corto short film exhibition, will not return the material delivered for this nineteenth edition to its sender.
19. The registration of the works in the 20th SREC implies full acceptance and compliance with the participation bases set forth in this document.
The Management Committee reserves the right to modify or expand its participation bases, making them public prior to the start of the Festival. In the event of an unforeseen conflict or that these rules are not properly complied with, the Festival management retains its sovereignty and reserves the right to the power of the last decision.
Any doubt that may arise from the interpretation of these rules will be resolved by the direction of SREC.
