NIEVE ROJA: INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL OF HORROR, SCI-FI, FANTASY AND BIZARRE

Nieve Roja was created with the intention of being a diffusion space for the production of independent films of the horror and fantasy genre, whose production grows year by year, and needs more exhibition and promotional spaces. The spirit of Nieve Roja is to gather all lovers of the genre and promote their productions, mainly in Patagonia.
This seventh edition of the festival is competitive, and will have the following categories:
- National Feature Film Competition
- Patagonic Short Film Competition (National).
- Argentinian Short Film Competition (National).
- Latin American Short Film Competition.
- International Short Film Competition.
- Bizarre Short Film Competition.

Nieve Roja is a member of FANTLATAM (Alianza de Festivales Fantásticos de Latinoamérica), RAFMA (Red Argentina de Festivales y Muestras Audiovisuales) and Red-FAP (Red de Festivales Audiovisuales Patagónicos).

Special awards.

1.PARTICIPANTS

1.1 The call is open to filmmakers and producers from all over the world over 18 years of age.

1.2 Registration and participation in the festival is free for national Patagonian short films, free of charge for Argentine feature films and short films (except for the final registration stage) and a fee for Latin American and international short films.

1.3 The festival considers the person presenting the audiovisual work to be responsible for it.

1.4 Any shipping costs are the responsibility of the participants, the festival does not
will pay no fee for sending copies or screening rights.

1.5 The presenter is responsible for having the corresponding permissions for the projection of the material he/she sends and disassociates the festival from any type of responsibility or possible damage.

1.6 Any legal non-compliance of the registered films is the responsibility of their presenter.

1.7 Participants accept that a small percentage of the selected material be used for the dissemination of the event.

1.8 The organization reserves the right to modify these regulations without prior notice.

1.9 Participation in the festival implies acceptance of these rules. Any Issue that arises throughout the festival, not contemplated in the rules, will be decided by
the organization.

2.CALL

2.1 The registration date is from 11/20/25 to 3/27/26 inclusive.

2.2 Films completed as of January 1, 2023 that have not been part of previous editions of Nieve Roja may participate, either as an official selection or as guests.

3. GENRES AND FORMATS

3.1 The admitted genres will be horror, fantasy, science fiction and bizarre. Other genres with elements of those mentioned above will be considered.

3.2 The duration of the short films will be a maximum of 24 minutes, including credits.

3.3 The duration of the feature films will be from 60
minutes.

3.4 If any of the works presented are not spoken in Spanish, it must be subtitled in Spanish.

3.5 The base format of the selected movies must be 1080p, MP4 format, H264 codec, stereo audio bit rate of 10.

4. REGISTRATION AND SENDING OF MATERIAL

4.1 Sending material for viewing will be done through the Festhome platform.

4.2 If selected, the material will be sent virtually, through a download link via Google Drive or similar system (with no expiration date for the material). Those selected will be informed about the deadline for sending a screening copy. If the copy is not delivered within the requested date, the organization may choose to cancel its selection.

5. SELECTION AND PROJECTION

5.1 Each of the participants whose material has been selected to be screened at the festival will be notified via email. Once informed, they can send dissemination material if they have it.

5.2 The screenings of the competition sections will be in person, with the possibility of screening the material virtually in the case of short films. Out-of-competition short films will be available virtually throughout the festival and may be screened in person.

The date and time of each screening will be defined by the organizers.

5.3 The organization understands the sending of the material as authorization for its projection and will not pay any fee for exhibition.

5.4 Those selected works may be part of subsequent screenings in which the festival participates, with prior notification to the presenter.

5.5 Those short films that are not part of the official selection will be considered to integrate an out-of-competition section within the festival, with the intention of promoting the production and development of genre cinema.

6. Prizes:

6.1 The competition categories will have a winner and special mentions, the bizarre short film category will have a single winner.

6.2 National Feature Film Competition:
- 1st place: Trophy+ diploma.
- Special mention: Diploma.

Patagonian Category:
- 1st place: Trophy+ diploma.
- Special mention: Diploma.

National Category:
- 1st place: Trophy+ diploma.
- Special mention: Diploma.

Latin American Category:
- 1st place: Trophy+ diploma.
- Special mention: Diploma.

International Category:
- 1st place: Trophy+ diploma.
- Special mention: Diploma.

Bizarre national category:
- 1st place: Trophy+diploma.

6.3 The announcement of the winners will be made at the close of the festival. It will be published on our social networks and the winners of each category will be notified via email.

6.4 Any costs for shipping the trophieswill be borne by the winners.
