The Santo Tomás Talca 2026 Vertical Festival is the inaugural edition of a competition dedicated exclusively to the vertical format (9:16), organized by the Communication and Design Department of Instituto Profesional Santo Tomás, Talca campus.
The festival will take place on July 2, 2026, and aims to be a space for encounter, experimentation, and recognition for audiovisual creators of all ages and nationalities.
The open call includes four categories: Adaptation (exclusive to Santo Tomás Digital Audiovisual Communication students), Music Video, AI-generated Videos (open to all of Latin America), and Schools (for high school students from the Maule Region). All works must be in 9:16 format, 1080p resolution at 30 fps, with a runtime between 2 and 10 minutes.
The First Santo Tomás Talca 2026 Vertical Festival is an audiovisual showcase, not a competition. Therefore, no awards, prizes, or mentions will be granted. Selected works will be screened under equal conditions, celebrating each piece as part of a collective experience of vertical audiovisual creation.

Exclusive category for current students of the Digital Audiovisual Communication program at Santo Tomás, from any campus across the country.
This section is dedicated to short films that were originally recorded or edited in a non-vertical format and have been re-edited and adapted into the 9:16 vertical format.
The challenge lies in making the work feel natural and organic in its new vertical form, making creative decisions in editing, reframing, and composition that give the original material a new life without losing its narrative essence. All works will be evaluated by a jury composed of national and international audiovisual professionals.
