In association with The Sunset Theatre, The Moonrise Film Festival seeks to assemble today’s great and emerging film talents, and to engage audiences with their work in a unique, destination environment.
Last year, 35 Canadian films were selected, and over the course of three nights, narrative, documentary, experimental, and animated shorts were screened, with 10 filmmakers attending to speak about their work.
This year, we are accepting films internationally! As well, film submissions are not required to be current, and in fact, filmmakers are encouraged to submit work that is their personal favourite.

In each of our 5 short film categories (Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Animation, and Experimental), our audience is given the opportunity to vote for their favourite films. Winning filmmakers are announced on the final screening night, and are then awarded an automatic free pass to our next year of the festival. These award winners will also be posted on the Sunset Theatre website.
Pre-selection films can be sent though "Fest Home". All filmmakers will receive e-mail notification about our selection as of July 14, 2014. If accepted, a final exhibition copy of the film must be sent to The Moonrise Film Festival in Wells, BC. (Mailed DVDs/Blu-rays will not be returned to senders).
