Début du Festival: 28 septembre 2026      Fin du Festival: 03 octobre 2026

FECIUCH is a public university film festival that seeks to promote audiovisual and cinematic culture at the national level, fostering the inclusion of regional schools and valuing audiovisual works not only for their artistic and social content, but also for their treatment of language, form, and critical perspective, created within student learning environments.

Through this festival, we aim to bring together a broad community of students, professors, and alumni, creating a diverse and open university meeting point—an artistic space for the community, an exhibition, discussion, and development for emerging voices and perspectives. We seek to promote contemporary cinema that, faced with the challenges of modernity and limited resources, embraces innovation and reinvention.

We believe in cinema that, far from replicating established formulas, dares to explore new perspectives, languages, and narrative forms. Cinema that, despite limited access to resources, amplifies the authenticity of its voices, creativity, and commitment to expression through learning and experimentation. This space seeks to showcase works born from the urgent need to create, engaging with the present and projecting the future of cinema from a student perspective, exploring and breaking down the established boundaries of the industry.

In this and future editions, we will work to expand our reach to promote and support the development of works at various stages of production, as well as serve as a bridge between university-based creative work and the industry. Furthermore, in this edition, we have partnered with UChile TV as a media partner and with the National School of Cinematographic Arts (ENAC) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, thus beginning a process of international expansion. The first stage of this collaboration is being carried out through non-competitive screenings, with the intention of gradually incorporating these into the festival's competitive framework.

UNIVERSITY OF CHILE FILM FESTIVAL FECIUCH - 2026 - 4TH EDITION
GUIDELINES

1. FECIUCH is a public university film festival that seeks to promote audiovisual and film culture at the national level, fostering the inclusion of regional schools and valuing audiovisual works not only for their artistic and social content, but also for their treatment of language, form, and critical perspective, created within student training environments.

2. DATES. The fourth edition of FECIUCH will take place between Monday, September 28, and Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the facilities of the Faculty of Communication and Image of the University of Chile, in the Ñuñoa district.

3. CALL FOR ENTRIES. In its fourth edition, FECIUCH will open calls for entries for two competitive sections. Students and graduates of film, audiovisual, and animation programs from institutions throughout the country are eligible to apply.

a. Works must have been created in an academic context by undergraduate students, which must be verified by attaching a certificate of enrollment or, failing that, a certificate issued by the institution.

b. Works may not have been exhibited nationally before March 1, 2025, nor may they have been submitted to previous editions of FECIUCH.

c. Works may be registered free of charge using the Festhome platform, until July 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (Chilean continental time).

4. SECTIONS. This year's sections are:

a. Micro-film Competition: works with a maximum length of 8 minutes.

b. Short film competition: works of minimum 8 minutes and maximum 20 minutes.

5. PROGRAMMING. A programming team composed of students, graduates, and faculty from the University will view and select the works that will compete in the sections. The selection will be announced internally to the applicants and then publicly communicated during the first week of September.

6. JURY AND awards. Each section will have a jury of three people. These will be composed of one graduate and two faculty members or individuals from the film industry.

a. The jurors will view the works and award a Prize for Best Short Film and Micro-Film. The jury will also have the option of awarding a Jury Prize if they deem it appropriate.

b. An Audience Award for Best Short Film/Micro-Film will be awarded per screening. To determine the winner, mini-ballots will be distributed at the in-person screenings where viewers can vote for their favorite short film or micro-film.

c. In this fourth edition, FECIUCH invites the National School of Cinematographic Arts (ENAC) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) to form the ENAC Jury, composed of three representatives from the institution. During the closing ceremony, this jury will award a Special Mention for Best Short Film/Micro-Film, selected from among the works participating in this edition.

d. We will extend invitations to the 14 schools that make up the University Network of Film and Audiovisual Arts (RUCA) to form a RUCA Jury, consisting of one representative per school (from their academic staff or administration). At the closing ceremony, the jury will award a RUCA Prize for Best Short Film/Micro-Film, from all the works selected at FECIUCH.

e. Thanks to our partnership with Punto Ciego and Atisbo Films, a special prize will be awarded for Best Short Film/Micro-Film. The director(s) of the winning film will receive access to three days of filming with the camera and lighting equipment of these rental companies. Further information regarding the terms, dates, and details of the prize will be announced soon.

7. Submitting a work implies full acceptance of these rules and authorizes its exhibition during the festival should it be selected for one of the competitive sections. Submission also authorizes the use of stills and excerpts for advertising and promotional purposes. Furthermore, it implies authorization for a possible exhibition in 2027 featuring the winning works from the fourth edition of FECIUCH.

8. Works included in the official selection authorize their possible broadcast and distribution on UChile TV through FECIUCH promotional spots, to be aired on dates to be determined. The exhibition license agreement will be sent by email to the filmmaker or producer of the work for the necessary permits to be obtained.

9. If the work is submitted from the Metropolitan Region and selected for the FECIUCH competitive sections, at least one representative from each work will be required to be present at the exhibition and the festival closing ceremony.

10. SUBMISSION MATERIALS. Each applicant must attach the following to the submission form:

a. Three (3) high-resolution stills of the work, as well as one (1) high-resolution vertical photograph of the director(s) of the work, which must be a medium frontal shot.

b. A private or unlisted YouTube or Vimeo link, available for viewing until October 2026.

11. EXHIBITION COPY. If the work is selected, applicants will have until Monday, September 21st to submit the exhibition copies in H264 or H265 format. The copies must meet the following requirements:
