LATcinema Fest, Barcelona’s Latin American Film Festival, was launched in 2022 at Casa Amèrica Catalunya to fill a gap in the city’s cultural calendar: a festival dedicated to the best of recent Latin American cinema.

Since its inception, the festival has been committed to bringing audiences the diversity and excellence of the continent’s film productions, fostering dialogue between different perspectives, contexts, and sensibilities that reflect the cultural richness of Latin America. The programme is carefully curated through close attention to the issues shaping contemporary Latin American cinema. The selected films explore themes that transcend geographical and temporal boundaries and resonate universally, including freedom, access to essential resources, the challenges facing young people, human rights, and historical memory, among other key areas of reflection.

By doing so, LATcinema Fest has become a meeting point between Barcelona audiences and the leading voices of contemporary Latin American cinema.
