The Asian Art Film Festival (Asian Art Film Festival, abbreviated as AAFF) is approved by the relevant authorities of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government.

It is jointly presented by the Asian Art Film Festival Association and the Macao International Art Film Association.

As one of the region’s most artistically driven and aesthetically distinguished international film festivals, AAFF is dedicated to advancing the spirit of cinematic exploration and artistic integrity across Asia.

Held annually, the Asian Art Film Festival (AAFF) focuses on curating outstanding films from across Asia, with particular attention to exceptional works by emerging and independent filmmakers.

Through its competition and selection mechanisms, the festival highlights films that reflect the human condition, engage with social and humanitarian issues, uphold fairness and justice, and demonstrate artistic innovation with profound cultural insight.

AAFF aspires to champion works of enduring artistic value and to showcase cinematic classics refined through imagination, creativity, and bold original vision.

【Main Competition】

【Pioneer Trend Section】
This section focuses on experimental, innovative, and avant-garde cinema, supporting directors and works that challenge conventions in narrative, visual language, or technical application to explore the frontiers of cinematic art.

【Rural Chronicle Section】
This section focuses on works that depict rural life and regional cultures across Asia, profoundly reflecting a connection to the land, social realities, and humanistic spirit.

【Auteur Film Section】
This section focuses on the director's role as the primary "auteur." All films in this section must be directed and written by the same person, selecting those that demonstrate a high degree of cohesion and a distinctive authorial signature in their visual style, narrative structure, and thematic expression.

All submitted films will be reviewed by the jury and announced in three stages:

Shortlisted – Nominated – Awarded.

Shortlisted and nominated works will be announced on our official online platforms (please follow the AAFF official website and WeChat account).

Award Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony held in Macau, China, in May 2026.

Submission Deadline: January 31, 2026


1. Film duration must be no less than 70 minutes.

2. The film’s premiere date must be no earlier than 1 July 2024.

3. The applicant must be the legitimate copyright holder of the film and able to provide relevant copyright documentation.

4. Films from Mainland China must possess a valid Public Screening License or online Distribution License.

5. Upon successful submission, the festival committee will send a confirmation via email. Once officially accepted, the applicant is committed to the festival's selection process and may not withdraw for any reason.
