Accessible Film Festival ()

Within the framework of the Competition Without Barriers, the best films of the recent Turkish cinema compete for Audience Award, Best Film, Best Director and Best Script awards. While the Audience Award is decided by the votes of the audience, a Jury consisted of directors, actors/actresses, film critics, cinema professionals etc. decides the Best Film, Best Director and Best Script awards.

Considering the basic fact that everyone should have the right to join the cultural life, Accessible Film Festival is an event where visually, hearing and orthopedically impaired audience can watch films together with the audience without any disabilities, so they can experience a cultural and social event.

All films at the Festival are presented with audio-description for impaired vision; sign language and detailed subtitles for impaired hearing. All Festival venues are selected from the venues which are accessible for the orthopedically impaired audience. The workshops and Q&A sessions which are held after the screenings with the directors and film crews during the Festival are accompanied by sign language interpreters. The Opening and Award Ceremonies are also accompanied by audio description along with the sign language translation. Therefore all moviegoers whether they have disabilities or not can follow a film festival together.

While the Festival presents the best recent and the classic examples of the world and Turkish cinema, it also hosts parallel activities such as Q&A sessions after the screenings, workhshops, VR experiences etc. The audience with impaired hearing and vision can also follow a film competition and the current Turkish cinema first time in Turkey by means of Competition Without Barriers.

All screenings and parallel activities at the Festival are free of charge.

The Festival program is on invitation basis.
